Similar idea as the extremely thin cell phone that fell through the crack in the floor we saw a while back.
A negative reinforcement of the product in an effort to create a positive response in the consumer.

Only this feels juuuuuuust a tad contrived.

But still very memorable.

Ugly and unappetizing photo but a cool idea. (I gotta find something nice to say. I'm bumming myself out with all this negative commentary.)

IT LOOKS MORE LIKE 'EXTRA BIG HOLE' ON THE KITCHEN UTENSIL! Bad ad.

See what you mean, DS.
Maybe a more trad, inviting kitchen/prep sink shot?

It's a clever idea for bringing attention to extra thin spaghetti, but all it highlights are the problems associated with extra thin spaghetti. Why would anyone want to buy extra thin spaghetti after seeing this ad?

i have a hunch that even with really thin spaghetti it would not go through the colander

But this is not the point.
It's symbolic.

It's not a good symbol in my opinion though. It doesn't work like this at all, so there's nothing to exaggerate. (Spaghetti usually don't go trough when thrown in there.)

Agree with Daddy Mack. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should, to paraphrase Jeff Goldblum from Jurassic Park.

The first thing I learnt in advertising was don't be a smart ass. This is saying "look what a clever creative I am". But it ain't about us.

I like the idea, the execution could be better.

This is useless advertising.
The "client" has no advantage doing such an ad.
And the agency neither in my humble opinion.

Is TBWA making these kind of ads nowadays? Damn!

Let's see some relevant real ads here guys. Advertising Authentica!

Desperately posting for Cannes?

Oh, this happens to me all the time, and I get pissed off when it does. There is no way I'm going to buy spaghetti that highlights it's problems.

It is probably quite an effective ad, it does what its supposed to do and gets its message across, but makes the food look unappetising.

Would maybe work better aimed solely at chefs - buying food for other people to eat.

It's only an ad.
