Really? Black Simpsons? Really? Shouldn't the message be that the cable station/company is available in Angola? The Simpsons are available everywhere there's an internet connection. The visual is cool, but that doesn't save this from being a very boring ad.

Doin' it for the points

Guest's picture

In Angola were the internet connection has 80kbts you cant watch Simpsons

Guest's picture

Stop hatin’ and take the ad for what it is – FUNNY!

How boring. Discussing "what if they..."..."what if them..."..."what if...". They did it and that's all.
Even if The Simpsons travel in all countries I already have in mind the solutions to distinguish them, is not difficult. The ad is funny and made its job, is not going to solve Middle East issues.

The client is not always right - Enzo Ferrari

Please, we (black Americans) were wearing black Bart Simpson and black Simpsons t-shirts in the 1980s. This idea is anything but new or creative. Not to mention, some of your comments are racist.

Guest's picture

I have to totally agree with "Guest | Wed, 2009-08-19 09:04". Very true, this idea is unoriginal to say the least.

Halayzone's picture 40 pencils

Funny one

Guest's picture

Although it is as some said, unoriginal, and as one touchy person said , racist....half a dozen people said great ad....so it might not be the best ad in the world but it works....so what do you guys want from advertising...there's a lot of it about....it's bound to be unoriginal.....creatives have always had a source to work from. I LIKE THIS....get a life people

Guest's picture

too obvious

Guest's picture

hahahahaa love it :D

Lisa Simpson~~~~~~~~~~~~

Florence from China~

Guest's picture

Who cares if it's original or not. It's a reflection of the market where it will be shown. Stop hatin’ and take the ad for what it is – FUNNY!

Guest's picture

Is this really how (White) folks see Africans? Really? This is the image the (White) world has of people on that continent? Wow! This image is really a "reflection of the market?"

Guest's picture

if this ad was made by an angolan agency probably the "folks" must be black and not white, no...
????

Guest's picture

"Is this really how (White) folks see Africans? Really?"

No, it's not. Really. It's The Simpsons.

Guest's picture

Everyone lighten up! It's a funny ad that fits it's purpose. I'm a black female and was not offended by this ad at all. In fact, I laughed when I saw it... it's comical and light hearted, just like the "Simpson's" TV show. We don't always have to be so serious and deep in the ad world - you can still be creative without having to be Soooo "AD school correct"...

This is in regards to Guest | Fri, 2009-08-21 12:18 comment and especially disco monkey's comment.

Disco Munky's picture 3839 pencils

I'm sorry there seems to have been a misunderstanding. This ad isn't bad because it's offensive, it's just a boring ad. If it was funny it would have made me laugh...I laugh when a car horns goes outside...because it sounds like I farted ha ha funny even thinking about it...

Doin' it for the points

julian.l's picture 54 pencils

it's not a great idea. the actual simpsons aired in Angola are just like that. It's the adaptation for that country.
I also read that the ones aired for the arab countries are also different. homer doesn't drink beer but soda and marge wears a burka.

So in this case they're just showing the actual poster of the series. There's no idea here.
