if i didn't see the headline 'toilet', wouldn't have guessed those shapes in every room was a toilet.

other than that the idea is great
and humorous

Yeah, you have to look a little too close to get this one.

Also, who wants a toilet in every room? 'Basketball court' and 'closet' work better, but even then we've seen this execution many times before. I think it was Droga who did it way back when, and much better.

some people =)
i think it is humorous..
some people are too lazy to go to another room for a toilet. some people have bladder problems... etc etc

i think it works.
jsut not clear they are toilets heheh

i think the basketball court one is the weakest of all three if you ask me

Seriously, if you could custom-design your home, you'd rather have a dunny in every room than your own basketball court?

haha

but no.. like if the basketball court was so big and the rest of the house n rooms were soo little, the idea could work better.. i think. as it would add some 'ridicule' and 'humour' into it. custom made is a freedom of choice and this choice is better represented with some exeggeration.

These are ads for custom built homes. The operative word being custom. So the point is whatever you want in your home - we can build it. It's not about what SLIM would want in his home, it about what the customer wants. Nice to finally see some student ads worthy of the front page. It works on all levels.

I get what it's trying to do, just don't think this one does it particularly well. Again, who on earth would want a toilet in every room? If the purpose of the ad is to appeal to as many people as possible and get them thinking about how they might customise their home, the toilet seems like such a bad way to demonstrate that.

I know that old people have trouble doing it on their pants. So maybe that's the idea. One ad for girls, one for boys and one for older people. I'm not sure. Just a thought.

like SLIM said, it was a really good campaign the first time it was done (1998).
it was also pretty good the next 10 times other people did it.
now it's just tired.
respect for them being students and all (its still better/cleaner than alot of work), but the idea itself is just so old.

are you old?

because most of the people now lookng for a custom made house wasn't looking since 1998.

it's a good idea, it works. it is an ad. it gives info, fact and a reason to use the company.
it isn't a 'uniqueness competition' you know..
if that was the case 90% of advertising would be bad-mouthed by ad people.

er, this is a creative advertising site.
yes, IT IS a "uniqueness" competition. how do you make your product/brand stand out from the clutter in a "unique" way.
no, we shouldnt condone ideas that have been seen before in old award annuals.
yes, im older than you.

ellehcimeo's picture 3536 pencils

Can I get a unicorn in every room? That would be awesome.

I love this ad! It's not about wondering who would want a toilet in every room, it's about getting what you want! And I want a unicorn in every room! Awesome illustration of the service.

Spanky's picture 2023 pencils

not much of an idea here. a toilet in every room is just dumb. rich people actually do put basketball courts in homes. and the closet defeats the purpose of a visual solution when you have to label it closet. aside from that, this idea has been done to death. it's not going to help your book.

Would work for a medication for diarrhoea, I guess?

hang-the-dj's picture 1270 pencils

Yeah, the house plan thing has been done a lot, this feels like it's missing something though.

A toilet in every room? Who for? Should this read 'Custom homes for serious curry lovers'?

kre8's picture 993 pencils

i agree.

Rog's picture 6110 pencils

Down wiv da DJ.
Ditsy little idea that waaay undersells the "Custom" concept.

>>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.
