but, the soft part should be the CLOTH and BODY

Wow, you're all thinking to literally.
The idea is that the cloth is so soft it reminds you of... hugging your teddy bear, etc.
So of course the person is the bear.
The 'cloth' doesn't have to 'also look like a teddy bear' as that's what is reminding the person of it in the first place ...
You're right...maybe if the ads were showing different people in familiar situations DRESSED in something soft. E.g. a business attired in a teddy bear suit.
