the visual indicates the great show simpsons and high definition technology for LCDs is ok but how they are marrying it with the concepts.
I guess since it's been years I have seen the show I am missing something

they are referring to another cartoon family of the 80's: The flintstones... so if your TV is old technology, watching simpsons becomes like watching flintstones back in 30 years ago.

Jeeeeesh. People it is suppossed to be a merge of old & new cartoons. Putting the Simpson family in the Flintstones style of animation. Obviously you can't make a real redheaded Wilma because it will lose the concept of being Marge Simpson. This ad is pretty self explanatory.

Not as good as people seem to think. I really like the illustration. I think it's clever and a cool idea, but the illustration, used in this ad, is misleading in what it's saying. If the Simpsons look like the Flinstones on an old telly then what do the Flintstones look like? Because they've used existing characters to convey the concept of being ancient or out of date, then they are tying themselves into a concept that only works in one direction and only for one subject. Do they then say that Family Guy is like the Flintstones on an old telly or the Simpsons or Captain Cave man? It's a nice first thought but it's not quite right.

It looks like the Jetsons and the Flintstones because they both were similar due to the fact that they are both Hanna Barbera toons, and the flintstones aren't from the 80's... my mom watched them in the 60's.
Very True. LCD TVs and Plasma TVs are very bad with normal cable/ dish TVs. Only if you get high-defnition telecast, you get to see it clearly. Brief is bang on. Smart creative too.
