The expression is cheesy and unconvincing, thus it's bad. Alright then. If the guy looked like it had really just happened, would we feel the emotion this is supposed to convey any more? Would it be more intense? Possibly over the top? Would it be impossible to distinguish, in a disconnected blink, between exquisite pain and ROFL amusement? So is it really the expression that's the problem? I don't believe so.
