In addition "to arms" in French refers to the national anthem which states something along the lines: "...to arms citizens, in battle order, march on, march on...".

French ad agencies seriously need someone to translate their lines correctly. "To arms !" doesn't really mean anything in english.
I agree with iT-iS-i on this one.

I think what they meant was "Call to arms!" maybe it's a play of ... words, or whatever. It's nice and gothic though, just like Stihl, or is it? Hehe.

"To Arms"

In english, it does have meaning. Paul Revere ran through the town when the British were coming yelling, "To Arms! The British Are Coming! To Arms!" Meaning go grab your guns biatches...its game time...

Nice history lesson for you. Anyway, the ad is decent, not award winning or anything. Nicely executed too.

sorry my bad, it just sounds a bit awkward and very french.
After a closer look at the ad, I find it pretty cool. The concept is ok and the art is very nice too. I just feel it lacks something to get the whole "war scene" idea trough. Maybe more fog...

Actually, it has been proven that Revere did not shout this because they didn't want to awake the suspicions of the british army patrolling the countryside. He did however shout "The regulars are coming out!" because the residents considered themselves British (and it would therefore seem meaningless to shout that the brits are comming).

Concerning this ad I agree that the line looks like a direct transcript of "aux armes!" (from the french national anthem) and I think it works better in french.

But, anyways the ad isn't strong enough for such a line in my opinion...
