Are you actually serious? There are like 8 widows on this. Got typesetting?

Art direction FAIL.
Don't like the reversed joke either.

Like it. The copy should have been more crispy; after all, all this ad offers new is the copy where the story lies

I like it. Easy idea, but nice to read

Are we so hard up for new ideas? Could you of changed this famous ad at all to give it new life without just dropping in horribly set copy?

Guess not.

Bump up the word count Toby and get rid of the widows. Your homage to great advertising falls flat... unbelievable.

Those ripping on the widows obviously don't know their advertising: the original DDB VW ads had lots of widows, too. So this ad is very much an accurate homage. Not a particularly creative one, but accurate.

You are wrong. We know.
But we don't like it.
IMO if you wanna remix something from the past, at least make it look good.

I don't think you do. It's not a remix, it's a homage. If this were an ad for the 2012 Beetle, you would update the typography, and add the new 3D VW logo, but it's an ad that pays homage to the creator of the original ad, altering it would be an insult.

Hey guys! Did you catch my appropriate use of the term 'widows'? Real insider stuff. Teacher says I'll be ready to learn about 'rivers and valleys' when I master 'kerning' and 'leading'. I'm awesome!
