hey! lets hi-jack a leader of an important revolution and use him to sell our footwear! what a juvenile concept.
I agree, I respect Che. And I feel insulted, when his image is misused for a meaningless ad. Connection of the Converse logo with Che's star on his cap doesn't make any sense. What are these guys trying to say?

looking at this campaign, i think that they want to say Converse is a brand for everyone so it doesn't matter who you are
(personality or person looking) we have shoes made for you (that suits you).
Anyway the two first visual live well together but the Che one is for me a mistake, it's like saying "we have a red shoe with a
star ok let's take the Che" that sucks!! it didn't work at all with the two others.
By the way the AD is interesting and the pictures are wierd, like it.
Not to mention the obvious contradiction betwen socialist movements and capitalist advertisements... but hey, by now... you can buy shirts. posters. toothbrushes and toilet paper with his image at every chain store in every mall... so his original purpose is a bit diluted.... other two are cool... this one not so much... should be a Che Gueverra vs. Mona Lisa ad-off to see whos likeness has been more abused by lazy creatives....
oh god!! no comments!!!
What can you say to this? I guess you guys have rightfully bashed this piece of shit.
Everything has reached such a commercial height of insanity that it all does not have
any strong fundamental base of any sort. I THINK CHE'S FACE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM
FURTHER PUBLIC DISGRACE OF ANY SORT.
Unfortunately, no one really knows that Che was a fascist and a killer for Castro. People think he was a revolutionary, in all actuallity he was an oppressor for Castro who killed people with dissenting views. He was a pro Stalinist who did not fight for the people. The misconception perpetrated by the 1960's era new Left has found its way into advertising. If anyone who is pro Che and believe his politics are revolutionary, they need a really history lesson. Che's face like Vinay says should be banned, but for the real reasons that he is not a humanitarian fighting for the little guy, but an oppressive killer.
@ the bull
whatever Che was. Why i dont like this ad a single bit, is the fact that the brand is nowhere if there is no ICON there. had it been a normal, unknown person in this ad with some gesture, not copying this one, even then the idea of wearing a shoe is not a very soothing or convincing one. The only reason why they went for this idea is the fact that they wanted to grab the attention and they grabbed it no matter how much they were negative or positive. This is a fault. In the longer run, making your brand controversial can make it famous but where will you get the brand loyality... that really matters in the long run.
For the Bull - Great people are greatly controversial man. If you
have watched Motorcyle Diaries you would know that when Che set out
he gets fired by a lot of negatives in his country and that's what
ultimately drives him to be a revolutionary. May be he was a facist,
he was Castro's right hand etc. but I guess that's part reality and
part myth as all history is. The truth lies somewhere in between man.
It's not easy being a guerilla revolutionary, look at it from his POV
who should he trust and who should he ignore? My point is there definitely
mustve been some good that Che did and all depends on who did what kind of
propaganda and for what purpose to project him and make him what he is today.
Vinay
You saw it in a movie - it must be true. The filmmakers would rather you didn't dwell too much on the person he became. It's much easier to linger on his youthful idealism than on how that idealism eventually manifested itself. The Motorcycle Diaries eagerly embraces the cult of Che.
Pretend for a moment that you do not recognize the person, What have you got? ( 0 )
Cli che
LOL!
Tou che!
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Dtayl tht rocked!
Che the man on fire & love, pls dont------
Che Guevara, ¿a fascist? Ha ha ha ha ha... ¿What the hell do you know about fascism? You mean a dictator, that´s not the same concept, ignorant.
Think, if Che had worn Converse, he could have murdered twice as many of his countrymen!
wow. settle down. its just an add. i think your all get a bit carried away. But i agree, he was no revolutionist. he killed hundreds of his own people. and for what? For a murdering lunatic called Fidel Castro. The man killed for him and you are all acting as if he is some great profit? Do you know anything about history? I honestly doubt it. So please, before you abuse the add, do some research on what kind of man Che really was. Then judge.
he looks like rafael nadal
why are men who murder steal and take from others whats not theirs, are hailed herors?
From the english translation of Che's guerrilla warfare manual...
"The vital necessities of the guerrillas are to maintain their arms in good condition, to capture
ammunition, and, above everything else, to have adequate shoes. The first manufacturing efforts
should therefore be directed toward these objectives. Shoe factories can initially be cobbler
installations that replace halfsoles on old shoes, expanding afterwards into a series of organized
factories with a good average daily production of shoes."
I would say, judge men not for their mistakes or successes, in fact judge men not at all. But if you must, then judge them entirely, not only of the extremes of their character or actions.
