This exact same execution was done by Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney for Head & Shoulders in 2003
another sad example of recycled creative (or rather, in this case, straight up ripped off)
the original ad was done for head & shoulder anti-dandruff shampoo in australia a couple of years ago.
a plain black poster with the following copy in solid white:
www headandshoulders com au
and a small tagline that said "no dots" with the shampoo pack shot.
why do you feel the need to copy? tsk tsk.
I think sometimes we accuse people of copycatting when in reality the original idea was in no way unique or original. In this case, the idea of placing the website in the middle and the product on the bottom right is not creative or unique enough for any ad agency to claim ownership of the idea. This just a commonly easy way to get product exposure. This is the kind of idea they teach in design school, so it will be used over and over again. The original in this case was somewhat unique (no dots), but the composition was extremely common. We will definitely see this one again and again, and it won't be the result of copycatting. The cause will actually be lack of creativity, or usage of a proven strategy.

Designers and Marketers are among the least intellectual people I commune with. Most just go for the quick fix of T&A, and I don't mean Thoughts & Analysis... www.culturaltheology.org

also excist full page with text where all the dots are missing
well that sucks
didn't kwow it was done before
if i did i would't have gone trough some much trouble to get it sold
:(
I haven't seen it done before as well as other million people. Won't win an award, but will work for your client.
second you on that ivan. i guess it works so much better here than for some shampoo. http://upthechimney.blogspot.com
well i second you on that too, instinctive tra...
tis one is much better then for shampoo
Nice idea, done or not.
There's one good thing: Your boss will save 500 Euro because you don't have to send it to Cannes...
i've seen the exact same thing done my a condom company think it was Durex not sure. But it said 'To people who use our competitors product, Happy Fathers day.' somthing like that.
You're an idiot. Plain and simple. Absolutely completely different idea, thank God you're in markting. Ooooppss, damn, no I have to work with you morons to get ads down.
Exact what???? It's not the same idea. Please mister mellow. Think
made in 2004 for Head and Shoulders in Australia, by Saatchi & Saatchi! what a shame...
uau!
done, done, done!!! there are thousand of books, websites, festivals etc., where inquire about advertising...
I did an ad like that once (and I wasn't the first by any means), but it's still a nice idea.
İ did thought the same idea last year, and worked on nearly same layout, but it was not published.
I mean everybody can come up with same idea without copying it. It is not a shame. If you see and copy an idea, than it is definitely a shame :)
For Award judges with acne?
>>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.
it didn't clean up that shit in the upper right corner! ;)
What ever.

The idea works better for Clearasil than for Head and Shoulders for sure.
I don't like the font used.
Mellow the Happy Father's day Durex ad uses a similar color and layout however is a completely different idea.
student work
I think using the term "copycat" should be used with restraint.
For one, no one can know or mentally archive every single ad ever created. Yes, there are some unethical few that will knowingly pass off an earlier created concept as their own. But there are also many, many, many, other times where two people can think the same thought. This same thing happens every day with inventions; someone comes up with what they think is a spanking new idea only to find out it was already patented.
To some extent, it's unfortunate that there isn't an all-encompassing archive for creative's to research if an idea has been done before selling it to a client -- people can lose their jobs over stuff like that.
simple direct and done before.
Oh my god!!!! so simple, so great, so strong, so done before!!!
hahahahaha
