HA Ha ha.....
Confusing. Are they saying that the course is hard?
If so why is that the message?
More like the golfers it's speaking to, forgive the pun, are God-awful. Hence, the miracle needed to reach par. Because it's for amateurs - it's a high school golf outing. I got that part. It's just not that interesting, which is the problem for me.
But the thing I'm most confused by is the idea that this may actually have been produced? If so, it had to have been either pro bono, or else (which is my hope) that it was spec work so no money was wasted.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the son or daughter of the Creative Director attends Catholic Memorial High School and thought this would be an easy way to try and improve the book.
Seriously, who advertises a high school golf outing for high school students? Does that really sound like something a spread ad would be created for? Yeah, don't think so.
I very much doubt it's a spread. I think it's more a postcard or leaflet type of thingy that you just hand out (or pick up) at school.
A couple of things. First, if you actually went to the website, you'd see that the golf outing is a fundraiser for the school. I don't know of any students that donate to fundraisers, do you? Also you'd see that its a private school, which means they have money. And second, why the hell would someone run a line of copy over the margin? Seeing that, I'm guessing its a poster dumb fuck.
RIP Charlton Heston...
:D >>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.
I heard they actually had to pry a gun out of his cold dead hands.
True story.
"Make a name, or be defamed"
It's awesome, well done!!!
I don't understand the line. Why would this year be more difficult than any other year? Maybe they could have borrowed the title of the book, 'A Course in Miracles'
i don't really get the link between the miracle and the school, it's a nice idea but for a jewish school golf day. the parting of the water by moses has nothing to do with catholics.
I don't think they're referring to moses, but more the biblical act of parting the sea.
But I see what you're saying.
Catholics believe in the Old Testament, too.
So crap! I will pray for you.
This is deeply unconvincing!

Five years ago I came to live in Milwaukee from Madison, and was introduced to a new culture, a new school system, and new diversity. I can appreciate this piece because I live here, and I will explain why:
Catholic Memorial High is a private high school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. If anyone in Milwaukee wants a great education for their children, you send them to a private school; the Milwaukee Public School system is beyond sub-par (pun NOT intended, haha). Unfortunately, not many Milwaukee families can afford to send their children to public schools, so CMH holds an annual fundraiser to raise money for scholarships for students.
The golf course that this event was held at is one of the most esteemed in Wisconsin; therefore, the line makes sense, as it pertains to a difficult course as well as being associated with a Catholic school.
As people who work with and love creative, I think it is extremely important that we examine and think about not only what the creative is for, but also where it comes from and the background behind its creation. Just because we cannot initially understand something, does not make it inadequate or poor.
