Boko Halal

The omitted letters

Agency: Noah's Ark Creative

Description

Boko Haram, which means Western Education is a Sin, is the name of a deadly militant Islamist Organization that has been terrorizing the Northern part of Nigeria. They have attacked the United Nations building, bombed media houses, slaughtered children and women in their hundreds of thousands. The Human Rights Watch categorizes it as a Civil War.
We use the name of this terrorist organisation against them by flipping Boko Haram for Boko Halal, which means in Arabic; Education is Virtuous.
To show how the minds of kids can be easily brainwashed into terrorism,
we remove the letters 'L' in the word Boko Halal. So, this created a mix up with the name of the terrorist group Boko Haram. It helped to build momentum on the need to stand up for this cause. This ad was rejected by the two largest Newspaper houses in Nigeria, but eventually we got it
