Don't psychopaths start by harming animals before they move on to people?

Even though the idea is there, but this is not a good way to sell your product. There are other ways of doing this. Try to be more sensitive towards issues that concern others. This shows lack awareness/knowledge.

You can't take every single person's concerns into consideration. I like this campaign so if I were to buy a lawnmower then I would definitely consider this one and still donate to Friends Of The Earth or whatever.

loumeister's picture

it's a crap campaign which deliberately courts controversy. show me the clients sign off or where it ran and i'll eat my...whatever thai folks don't!!

This is disgusting! And does nothing for brand cred. In fact, I now hate Black 'n Decker.

Gross.

Interesting comment. However, I don't think Black & Decker saw or approved these ads.

Congratulations! You obviously aroused emotions and made some sissies cry. Feelings...Good or wrong, I don't care. What's the benefit? A bit high, but clean cut? Or is it just a cheap provocation?

Congratulations yourself PhobiArt, you just posted the best comment of the month! My guess; just cheap provocation.

why not have some beheaded pets while at it... a little kitten or a puppy? better still—a baby! you couldn't drive home the gory point better.
i'd like to take the mower to the CD!

I think it shows that this lawn mower can help you get rid of the unwanted animals that might hide themselves in the messy lawn...

I'm sorry, but this ad (along with the whole camaign - if you can actually call it a campaign, even though it's just three stinkin' print ads that are almost identical to each other) is shit.

Ads like this are pretty infuriating to see posted on blogs like this. The reason why is that it's already bad enough that advertising (particularly the creative side) is always flirting with curse of not being viewed as a very serious, worthy or even valuable industry. So kudos to the team at Ogilvy & Mather Bangkok for showing that creating ads is more about getting a rise or a laugh or a puke out of people...instead of digging for an insight that'll help to drive sales and persuade people.

Catharsis over.

sooo true, just the "cut in half" illusion would take a different approach of AD i think.
