Such artwork shouldn't be done for an art school :(

guys, what's your point in doing such an ad? were you trying to show you knew about the history of advertising? that doesn't make you special enough to be a hiring decision.

More than anything I was trying to begin a dialogue with agencies, potential employers. It seemed redundant to keep sending out resumes and portfolios, so I felt it was better to send out a self-promotional piece.

This isn't a self-promotional piece though Ben. This is other people's work on a pinboard with your name on it. There is no flow of logic that leads to your name, there's not even a clear starting point. This is a photo, not a composition, it's the visual analogue of writing a letter out of song lyrics, and is something you should steer far, far away from.

I've commented on your other submission on this forum, and like others here applauded your willingness to open your work for critique. But be ever aware, that there are people here who will tear students' work to ribbons, even accidentally. This piece isn't going to open a dialogue with agencies. It's fundamentally flawed as an idea, and would be scrapped by any teacher. I would advise that you think carefully before submitting any more pieces, even out of curiosity for potential critique; the Internet has a very long memory.

Also Ben, it's very dishonest to submit this on behalf of the Parsons School of Design. It's not an agency self-promo, it's a former student looking for critique. This is misleading and very likely to annoy people, which is the last thing you want on this forum.

Please ask the webmaster Ivan to re-categorize these.
