Certantly, do you usually stole concepts? Or why do you say that they stole this idea? If you work in advertising you should know that is very common to think in a concept that already exists and that doesn't mean they stole it. There are so many ads that would be impossible to remember all of them and eventually one (or many) of your ideas could be very close to other.

nope, i dont steal concepts or ideas.
part of the creative's job is to be constantly looking at other work to see what has been done already. in fact, ive taken several works out of my portfolio because i saw it had already been done. in some cases, i had to take stuff out that i had come up with first, but that was done later. and since it was published 1st, it would look bad if i kept it. it sucks, but it's the reality of the situation.
so even if it were coincidence, it's still not a strong ad because the thought is easy to get to. and they should have known it had been done.
in any case, there are way too many coincidences. the light, cheeky tone, the illustrative style, even the EXAMPLE of cannibals.

and also, off point, but the copy is really bad and the claim that a gym will allow you to hold your breath longer is just stupid.

Cute artwork (if stereotypical), but I don't get the tagline. If I work out at your gym, I can hold my breath longer?

Certainly, i understand the idea of trying to be constantly looking at other work and trying to be fresh but still i wouldn't use the word "steal". That's quite insolent. Advertising is made of stereotypes and it's very easy to use the same icons, situations and concepts. Don't be paranoid, not everyone is trying to steal creativity from everybody.

Certainly. You "certainly" have a point, but if that point is to say it's been done. Just say "it's done". The way you express your criteria is pretty rude and assumes that people do this intentionally without even knowing the facts.
This is a place to share opinions about the work of other colleagues in your industry and push that industry forward. Regardless of the similarities, and whether you're right or not, just make the effort to be respectful. Your opinion will count double with or without your 3961 pencils.

youre right. i let my hate towards ripoffs influence my post.

i obviously dont know for sure whether they stole the idea or not, but there are too similarities for my liking.

It's a Gym that offers a swimming pool among their facilities. The problem is that there's only a tiny line in the blue logo that informs of that fact.
(Insert Art Direction improvement here please). And the copy line isn't clear enough although I assume it's saying that the more you go to this gym the healthier lungs you'll have and thus you can stay underwater for longer and eventually save yourself from crappy situations like these. Hope that helps.
