Visual isn't so attractive although I'm not entirely sure what that is.

Well I thought it was pretty obvious that its a scarf made of tyres - pretty clever way of visualising winter tyres, I like it.

Not sure that it is so obvious it's a scarf of tires. And anyways, I'm not sure how a scarf is relevant to plowing through snow. Just because scarves and winter go hand in hand, doesn't mean it illustrates the product features.

sometimes visual solutions work. sometimes they don't.

As far as how well the scarf visual evokes or meshes with the real world use of tires, I'm not sure how much that matters. The grit of the road is only one way to go in an ad such as this and, perhaps gauging their audience, they opted specifically not to go there. The ad might work really well for the non "car geek" audience -- say, in Ladies Home Journal.

For the second time inside a week, I'll point out that an ad here is channeling the spirit of 1961.

works for me..even if i don't read the copy, i'll remember the 'winter tyres'..also, the scarf IS obvious n if a scarf doesn't symbolize winters, what does?
