dont get em

please don't think i'm being a jerk, i'm going to assume that you may have never seen a Lurzers magazine before. it's a publication that re-prints ads from around the world that have been deemed great. the little icons on the bottom of ads in the magazine indicate people involved: a pen symbol means copywriter, a marker symbol (as in this case) means art director and a camera symbol means photographer. i believe there are other symbols as well.
in this case, an art director is being fired, but because the art director has allowed the fact that his/her ad has been published in Lurzers to go to his/her head, the retort to the creative director is "you are fired".

i think these are terrific and really hit home if you are familiar with the magazine. not as good if you don't know the symbol system, but you can kind of figure it out, i think.

Ok, with this explanation I get em. Sorry but I never saw a magazine like that. The only magazine I read once in a while is "Computer Arts" "Computer Arts Projects" to keep up. Must broaden my literature

you should totally find a magazine store right now and check if they have it! i think it's bi-monthly. at least to just flip through the pages! it's kind of pricey, but a worth while treat!

K thanks! But I get a feeling these mags are US or at least North American mags. Dont know if they have them here in Holland. Seriously, I scavenged alot of magazine stores and they dont have alot of magazines of graphics here.

With a bit of luck I'm starting a magazine with a friend of mine, still waiting for the starting. Check him out, hes pretty good www.versch.nl

Icaro Doria is such an bastard. :)

My name is Dick Huges and after having several works published in Archive myself I approve this campaign.

But you let it go to your head... rsrs

Not true. I've always been a scumbag.

Hahaha! I am not Dick Huges but I approve this comment.

For ad-people (and that's the target-audience) this is very awesome.

haha i love the dropped coffee cup

Luke...The power is with you !!! 7.5/10

My fav of the three, very funny line.

I read the magazine alot and I didn't immediately get it. I've always found the symbols quite confusing. Like the campaign idea though. Just think the symbolism is a little too forced.

I feel the same way. It's like there is one idea too much. Why did thy have to use the symbols – the real people would have worked much better, if you ask me.

the symbol is the whole idea. take that away & you only have a pretty sepia photo.

i like this one. it really talks to archive subscribers.

I first looked up the one with the Porsche. I didn't get it. I can't explain why, but I somehow felt forced to find out ...
Now that I read all the comments and understand what it's about, I have to say I love these!
Especially this one. What a great line!
If I had known Lürzers before, I would have probably laughed my ass off.
Very good work.

Vive La Aducation!

personally i like the idea but not the tagline 'don't let it go into your head'. the photo is nice but the guy is too emotionless.

Love the outraged squeaker!
Guy looks like a crash test dummy.
