i noticed that's somebody with a sticker on their forehead in every of the ad in this series.
but i can't figure out why. anybody have idea and mind to share to me? thanks :P

Those with sticker on the forehead are those who arent popular at the moment, but they still can get attention from the crowd when they join the competition. Thats what we are looking now, the unpopular popular.

ohhhokie, thanks Vibe, i got the idea, with the sticker, so we would notice those that we not suppose to notice. cool, then i love this ad.

For me it's a 'so what' ad.

ellehcimeo's picture 3534 pencils

Me too Popdistortion.

I don't see the "getting noticed" here at all. I see a girl who has a sticky on her head. She's probably on her way to the bar to grab a double gin and tonic so she can get wasted and get picked up... that's even a story that I went to far with.

None of these in the series do it for me. I say "Meh, so what" to all of them. They could have done better. Nice photography though.

addyhoch10's picture 2599 pencils

yep agree, 'so what'.
you really like the photography ellehcimeo?

it took me a while to spot the post-it girl. i think this photo could use some contrast...

ellehcimeo's picture 3534 pencils

I do like the photography. Everything looks so rich. Nice lighting. Not the idea, just the set up and the use of space.

the post-it flag lookin-thing is supposed to depict the person who submitted the art work on the page thats been flagged in the magazine on the lower right.

not very effective tho...considering nobody in the photo is paying any attention to the people who've been flagged.

jennywhx's picture 1144 pencils

i guess the target is not people inside the photo, but us who are viewing this ad.
Without the post-it-flag i guess none of the audience of this ad would even notice that's a women there.
but with it, at least, we notice her.

Nice idea, nice photography...but I don't think it's quite effective

nice idea. totally identify with it. only way one is recognized and noticed is if the person is extremely beautiful(funny, charming, smart whatever) or popular.
we creative guys can enter our work in this journal, get popular and finally avoid being just another brick in the wall.

execution in photography could've been better in the previous shots. the post-it almost looked like a tick by a marker.

Hey I'm the Art Director on this ad, just to clarify a few things.

The campaign is basically a call for entries for the Applied Arts Magazine Photography & Illustration Annual. It's playing with the whole concept that the way creative directors and people in advertising generally highlight a person in the annual that they like is by using sticky tabs. We are simply taking that out of the magazine context and into real life. The idea is targeted toward photographers & Illustrators.
