Emoticon = not a human
And I don't directly associciate an emoticon with internet.

www.merobarema.blogspot.com
i didnt even see it as an emoticon in the first place.
the idea is bad. so cheap for AI.
and another thing i will never understand...if you are already willing to post this on aotw, why not doublecheck your english skills and let someone who actually speaks the language properly, translate it? now it just looks like an amateurs work.
Quite really.
i do associate this kind of emoticons with the internet coz they are found nowhere else but MSN chat and yahoo as well.. the ad's retouching needs little oomph i guess but the idea is fine and the headline is great ...

A mi me gusta la idea y la ejecución, lo único que a mi parecer faltó fue un mejor retoque del vendaje del emoticon
please, don't make that smiles the icon for every internet ad
Totalmente de acuerdo con Facundo.
No todo lo que se relacione con internet tiene que estar representado por el bendito emoticón.
A msn emoticon doesn´t represent the free expresion trough the internet, just communication, and it´s kinda cliché. Maybe the target defines if this execution works: kids. If the target is older, definitely is out of context.
I dont think using smily / emoticons let the issue remain as serious, as it rally needed
