Maybe this is not an award winning campaign but i like it much more of many sophisticated and fake ads that use to got a prize. Admire the layout, like the headlines and typography. Bravo.

It did win a D&AD if I'm not mistaken. Even better.

Oh, D&AD is very specific contest. In fact, for me personally is more prestigious than Cannes. So - that's good they got something for it.

Yes, I appreciate D&AD more than Cannes or at least as much.

Essato, Bella!
Great to see body copy again.
And worked intelligently into the layout.
And a sharply designed layout, what's more.
Headline? Meh... :)

>>>> That's not an ad. THIS is an ad.

I love the layout and the typography! I'm not a huge fan of the coloration of the photo though. It doesn't add anything for me to have it in that false color.

Would anybody like to explain why this is so good. I'm getting a little fed up of designers setting helvetica in blocks like this and everybody cooing and saying "ooh… how creative!" Pick up any design related magazine printed in the last five years and it will feature a piece of work that looks just like this.

It communicates clearly what it wants to. But as an airline campaign, this isn't a new territory by a LONG shot. People have been writing these lines for years and years (probably ever since the very beginning of airline advertising.)
I have myself worked on two different airline accounts in the past (both based in the US) at different agencies. And I can tell you I've written so many play-on-words "advertising headlines" like this one. Actually, we did comp up several ads with "cloud nine" and the whole ASAP, PDQ puns in the headlines. But they all got shot down internally. And we understood exactly why.

But the ad does grab attention (even for a split second) of the viewer "via" stylish layout. And by stylish, I'm giving them a lot of room here. Kinda like re-decorating an old studio apartment on the Upper West Side. Again, nothing new.

It's admirable they actually produced these ads. And I do LOVE smart headline-driven ads. But this really doesn't deserve all the accolades it's getting.

Yep, I'm with you JPL.

Smart and well-crafted layouts will never make 'good' headlines and copy into 'great' headlines and copy.

Besides the cool-looking art direction, there's nothing very special going on here.

Sure it answers the brief, but D&AD?

the art direction is fine. but the lines aren't that great. not a bad ad. but i'm surprised it got in D&AD.
