Its Thailand people, anime and manga are huge there as it is in most of Asia. Everybody there knows the cliche of "big eyed" cartoons, thats why the ad is pretty good, over there anyway. Its like Americans spoofing Marvel and Disneys characters which has been done and awarded countless times.
