COOL
Done!!!!! same idea for the Army time ago, and then Russia did it for Basketball players recruitment.
What's the msg here?
YMCA offers big backboards?
It's cool but a little blind. Is this for guys who like to play hoops with their buddies..organized kids leagues...Would totally pay off better if the URL was ymcahoops.ca or something...but it made me smile..
Let's keep advertising fun
I like minimalism. But this seems sort of half-way there. Something more would lift it to the next level.
"Ubi hubave lubearned thubat ubanuby fubool cuban wrubite uba bubad ubad, bubut thubat ubit tubakes uba rubeal gubenubiubus tubo kubeep hubis hubands uboff uba gubood ubone."

Double-take achieved. It works.

It's simple, and true... but there's something missing here. It doesn't quite get to that next level.
In other words, it's not as clever as the agency thinks it is :P

"I love some things, and don't love some other things."
nice but half-way done...
Very cool pair of shoes
Looks eerily similar to a Special Olympics ad I once saw done by a young student.
Definitely unique, but the communication message itself looks very inferior. Anyone can remember about this unique ad, but they very bother to accept the message
I like it.

GREAT!!!

very cheap scamwork. where's the relevance? where's the message? student work imho.
great idea, but I agree with those above that the art direction isn't quite there.
Dont get it sorry
One Point not Three.
would be better for something that makes you jump higher. or a child's growth supplement. very student-y.
Not conceptual. It needs something that isn't so linear. Like for an energy drink like Powerade, this would work. Even for a Nike Shox basketball shoe this would work. But otherwise, this is pretty lazy.
this is like a hit and run creative, looks like got 'something' but yet left it just there to rot!
don't get it at all, what is the message here?
it reminds you the YMCA is a good place to play basketball. it's very simple ...as billboards should be. clever use of media. nice.
And will this structure last? Or am i the first who think in put a ball in that net?
Them lucky that Michael Jordan is retired.
This was done in the late 90s by a Circus grad. Thanks for ripping it off and being behind the times.
for those who don't know, basketball was literally invented at the YMCA.

This has been done before. Your strategy is showing. That's a no-no.
i think its because women suck at aiming so they gave them bigger backboards! hahaha
What would you add, a headline?
Simple as simple gets.
Join the Y, play basketball. Effectiveness achieved.
What's this? widescreen basketball?
Do people no get this because they're not from North America, and aren't familiar with YMCAs?
How is the strategy showing?
Typical pro-bono work. Agency had a cool one off idea that needed a client.
pretty sure they have the account...

It does need a headline. Minimalism is good but some kind of message you should express. "Basketball" is not a message. "The league with/for the best athletes" (who jumps the highest) or something... then it will make all sense.
again?
(there's message on a pole)
So there is! However putting a message on the pole hoping people will read it, is like putting the headline in the legal small print.
hahaha, I think its clever.
Stay hungry. Stay foolish.
this is called branding people. wow. (...)
Is it just me or would this idea be better with something like Nike Air or something or a Powerade?
somethin is really missing, but I would try one shot :)

and it definitely would be much better if Nike Air did it with a tag like Sky is the limit..

The hoop needs to be bigger so it's relative to the size of the billboard. Looks really off with it being so small, cool idea though.
