Sorry to disagree, but any self-respecting ad creative NEEDS to be an "ad nerd" that reads as many ad forums and ad websites as possible, SPECIFICALLY to spot what has been done or not and aim to either be original or DO IT BETTER.

Great minds are welcome to think alike, but it'll be the loudest mouth in the room that is heard.

Well, it's a nice idea. Shame it's a blatant copy of this > http://www.adforum.com/creative-work/ad/player/29538

While they are the same idea. I don't think you can assume they did it blatantly. Not everyone is an ad nerd like you and reads every ad forum and ad web site. Great minds can think alike. Please keep in mind the guidelines for comments: Be respectful and helpful. Do not... link drop.

I agree with creative3. I've seen on a few occasions it happen where I've been presented with an idea and it's the same or quite similar to an idea created years before. And there was no knowledge of that idea and certainly no intent to copy.

Calling me an "ad nerd" isn't "respectful".

Actually, James, in some circles ad nerd is very respectful. In fact, I have some colleagues who proudly refer to themselves as ad nerds.

I suspect you all work at the same agency as you have all joined this site very recently to defend your work. Of course, no problem with that. But guys, this site invites comment. To me, it's quite a famous idea that I and many others have seen before. So please don't take it so personally. If you had never seen it, maybe you should be an ad nerd like me. But criticism goes with the territory of publicising your work. As 'kerffufler' knows in seeking out my past work in order to leave his/her 'opinion.' If you don't like, you can always retract or post to a site that doesn't invite the opinion of its community. Cheers.

Well, it's been done. Happens all the time. By the way, this is obviously a Photoshop mock-up... Did you actually put the billboard up in the end?

It's a nice idea, but the art is too complicated.
