Nissan: Brasilia map
Enjoy Brasilia
City maps as you’ve never seen before. This is the campaign Lew'Lara/TBWA has created for Nissan Brasil. Maps of Barcelona, Brasília and Paris were redesigned using a laser cutting technique. The results were dozens of paper and acrylic displays that showed just the streets and avenues of each one of those cities. The whole thing was reinforced by a special illumination that shines the light in a way that the shadows of the maps were all over the walls.
"Besides showing the city in a new and different way for those who drive a Nissan car, these maps represent the care and accuracy Nissan takes in designing cars. The point of sale helped to enhance the association between high-end technology and Nissan." says Felipe Luchi, Lew'Lara/TBWA’s Creative Director.

nice craft..
but so what? just a map
Hmm… I smell a rat. It seems they have seen the work of Karen O'Leary and tried to claim it as their own? Where is the credit? The rationale for the idea is very weak.
See her work here: http://www.coolhunting.com/design/karen-olearys-c.php and her etsy store here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/studiokmo
I agree with kimsd, this is clearly a rip off of karen olearys work. I imagine someone at nissans marketing firm saw her work and tried to pass it off as their own.
I hope someone at nissan takes a closer look at this ad and realizes they are copying someone else's work!
I have just been in contact with Karen and she says that she was not approached or commissioned for the obvious reproduction of her work. Credit where credit is due please.
The rationale is very weak, when I look at it I see a map in black and white. That's all. No supporting copy to tell me what that is supposed to represent. And now to find that it's a complete rip-off of someone else's work, that just makes it all the more sour.
looks like an aftershock of a nightmare Felipe Luchi had last saturday! ; )

superb craft!
am an advertising junkie | read my flog at http://www.desicreative.com/forum
It's just a laser cutter...not rocket science
dont be so upset about the-rip off, its just advertising....half of this site is rip-offs
nevertheless this ad makes no sense!
shameless brain theft
To much to think about. People will get bored of it
Laser cutting does not = awesome ad.

"I love some things, and don't love some other things."
Prett5y useless as a map since it has no street names...pretty useless as an ad since it is useless as a map.
I agree with many people here. Laser cut poster does not = effective advertising. Yes, they look A LOT like Karen O'Leary's work, but other than casting neat shadows, what do these posters accomplish?
