Savanna, the official drink of funny, is also the official sponsor of the 2nd Annual South African Comics Choice Awards. Quirk South Africa was briefed to come up with a digital campaign for Savanna to create awareness of their relationship to the awards. Quirk wanted to give viewers the chance to kill the comedian if their jokes suck and so the Dead Funny campaign was conceptualised.We filmed a series of well-known stand up comedians and, depending on whether their performance is Liked or Lame, created alternative, surprising and humorous responses literally killing them off. These interactive YouTube videos form part of a wider integrated digital campaign including social channels, rich media display advertising and email.
