Hyundai: iPark app

Hyundai asked us to come up with a digital advertising solution aimed at a young, technological savvy, audience. It's well known that parking is hell in the city. Every parking spot is worth fighting for or squeezing into, no matter how small. In addition, with the hectic urban lifestyle often people forget where they parked their cars. We decided to help Hyundai drivers park their cars and remember where they parked it. The app. also helps drivers find the nearest Hyundai service centers.

How it works: Stand with your car mirror parallel to the bumper of the car close to you. Take a picture of the license plate of the car further away from you. Match the square on your screen to the license plate in the photo you took. Confirm the match and find out if your car fits in or not. You can share your location on facebook. After parking you can save the spot so you easily find your car later. Looking for a service center? No worries. Hyundai iPark app locates the center that is nearest to you. Basically, Hyundai iPark is your personal parking assistant.

Completely useless. And... taking a photo of the car plates in front of you? You wouldn't really want to do this.

Useful on paper but far, far too longwinded to be practical in real-world situations. What a shame :/

C'mon guys, do you think people have that much time to play around just for parking?
I think we all need to make life easier. This app for me fails completely.

Nice illustration though.

:DD OMG!
By the way Micra does it from its computer with Parking Slot Measurement, without using an iPhone or making a traffic block with shooting car plates.

I have a very hard time believing this even works or works well enough to use. I know what they're trying to get at with taking a picture/proportioning of license plates, but the location of your phone when you take a picture can differ depending on arm length, seating position, car position, angle, etc, etc...this makes taking a precise picture nearly impossible. Add in the honking and angry motorists behind you and this app becomes pretty useless.

This doesn't save time at all. It costs more valuable time...

Idiocy. Can you use your brains to park? just scrolling to the ad and trying to snap the picture will waste enough time to get the towing truck coming for you. Who came up with this idea, gramps?
