i like this a lot. nice solution.
the only thing that kind of bothers me is "extend the life of a tree" implies the tree will be chopped down anyway. (i.e. delaying the inevitable)

que idea tan buena. es verdad, mucha gente bota los lápices pequeños y gracias a este tipo de extensiones permitirá darle una prolongación a éstos.

although I recommend my personal solution: simply don't use pencils. just reciclable pens and keyboards.
