this says the label is the only difference between shiner and other beer brands?!
not quite. everybody knows that it's just a koozi, so it becomes a joke that gets everyone involved. unless a heineken drinker is incredibly brand loyal, brought their own koozi, or likes warm beer; they are probably going to use a shiner koozi -- it's free. plus, it's a matter of Texan pride. even when drinking heineken, most Austinites would choose to root for the home team anyway.
before anyone asks: no, i do not work for the agency, nor did i work on this. i just live in Austin.
Brilliant. And the next comment about punk advertising sums it up. This is proper guerilla advertising and great execution. This is fun and it works.
- The only thing more rare than a good ad is a good guest comment -
Would work A LOT BETTER if heinekken did that. Like: "we know that Shiner is a local favorite and the pride of Austin so it's hard for you to drink something else - but our taste being so much better, it's okay to cheat. With discretion".
Incorrect. Heineken paid a boat load of bread to sponsor this thing, and the little brewery of Shiner paid peanuts for some koozies. Texans love some Shiner, and could care less about some Amsterdam canal water. Being a Texan, I appreciate this very much. I went to ACL and still have this koozie. Good job guys!
I agree with you because it is very interesting.
koozies
Punk advertising! Yeah!

I don't like it.
yes you do.
Yes you do
Question is...will they remember the koozie or remember the taste of a Heine?
Hope they don't remember the taste of Heine... That crap is NASTY!
Brilliant!

I think this works.
And not on people who drink it, but on people who see them drink it.
It is kind of like viral marketing.
People see you having a good time and drinking Shiner.
Nice!

makes no sense at all.
i am guessing you are a nimrod who drinks zima.
baahahahahahahahaha. ZIIIIINNNNGGGGG!
Not terribly brilliant creatively, but a very good strategy.
There's no need to be overly creative with it, think about the target audience. It's simply and works well.

Why not just drink a Shiner? So confused? Was Heineken the only beer you could buy there, I doubt it.
Nice! I used to live in Austin and hate Heineken and how it was our only choice at ACL.
outstanding!
wooo! Wicked...
I will just remember the taste of a Heine!
because your brain is the size of a hamster's bladder
typical slop from typical austin hacks. austin blowwwwzzzzz
i guess it blows if you dont like great live music, nice people, great food, and attractive woman.
"austin hacks???" don't think so.....and we have the best music....please don't visit, we don't want you. Go Shiner!
you sound like an over weight douche bag who works in a turd shop in dallas. see you at the pottery barn.
Then how could Heineken get the publicity?
