Smart idea! Seeing the thumbnail i thought it was another sending out of a bunch of photo's. But actually infiltrate holiday cases with a photo that has a tremendous 'shock value' is great! Would really make me lift my eyebrow and check out the festival. Or at least the website.

This idea doesn't fit the category DM i guess. Ivan?

Could be ambient or DM. Doesn't really matter.

I like it, so simple but so relevant and really smart. Probably very cheap too.

Only downside to this is that most people don't print out their photos anymore.

EXACTLY what I was thinking. More effective in the 90s I'd suspect. Still very smart.

@www.jackmancer.com: With a budget of 0,- euro almost 6000 photo cases were provided with a photo from Breda Photo. So almost 6000 families and groups of friends were reached directly. In turn, they spoke about it to their friends and family.

@tzuik: (Partly) due to this action the festival attracted twice as many visitors as last year. But you're right. In fact, the picture of the dead bird was the most confrontational. Really on the edge. The festival this year was all about shocking images though. The theme was 'TILT'. So we created tilt.

Yes, I get your point but it remains a downside. It'd be better if more people printed their photos, no matter what.

And I get that it's done with low budget but don't go and say it's with a 0,- euro budget.

Must say you are completely right. I said it was a 0,- euro budget. Both the agency and the photographic shops (www.verschoore.nl) participated free of charge. Even the sticker on the back was printed out by the photographic shops. In exchange for a mention on www.bredaphoto.com. But that indeed did cost 10,- euro on the internet company to do this. So next time i will say there was a 10,- euro budget. Agree? ;-)

It's a good idea but I don't think people will be returning to the photo center that sneaked pictures of dead birds among their family photos.

This is great, but you do need to have a sense of humor to appreciate it.

this is a complete rip off from few years ago.

exactly the same idea was done in New Zealand (I maybe wrong on this one) only it was for travel agency. they put photo of another atractive location in the bundle of developed photos with a headline: "where will you spend your holidays next year?" followed by travel agency's contacts.

check Cannes winners.

Allready done indeed. Cannes 2008 i think. But something else: The results says 55.000 people visited the festival. But how much was it a year before? It's such a small idea that isn't going to win anything. Failed at the Eurobest probably because someone knew it's a rip-off.

The festival attracted twice as many visitors as last year. Partly due this action, and of course because of its growing popularity. Do you maybe have a link to the idea that won in Cannes? We can't find it anywhere...
