Very good use of a tired medium. It's hard to use something that's so cliche well.

Not that hard. Well, let's use elevator it always looks smart. Hmmm. Prisoner. Locked in. Try to get out. Maybe he tries to open the door?
That's it.
And if he does 'open' the door his body splits into 2. Happy end.

Simple, relevent, fresh. Makes sense to me.

Okay, but larger question: were these "guerilla" applied? Or did they bother asking the landlord if they could use his elevators like this? I'm betting that, in NY anyway, if these appear, they'll be midnight strikes, the decal equivalent of graffiti, and they'll be taken down just as quickly.

Solid idea, effectively communicated and really makes you think about the plight of the prisoners.
