Brilliant use of medium... but the idea's not new. I still dig it though...

SeanMartin's picture

Okay, while the idea's nice, let's see a show of hands: how many folks here actually know what goes into magazine print production and why this ad would be nearly impossible to do?

Here, let me save everyone the trouble of asking. "Do you even work in advertising?"

LeeHarvey's picture 1798 pencils

Looks like a seperate insert which means you have to buy 4 pages minimum, so I guess you're right Sean.

SeanMartin's picture

Not quite, but close. You can do a one-page insert, but it goes in during the bindery process, which ends with the three sides getting trimmed for clean edges. Put a fold at the top of your insert, and chances are it'll get trimmed right off. That's why the cologne and perfume inserts are short-folded.

Maybe they print the insert apart from the magazine and glue it to the back of the fold. maybe i dont know, but youre right when the cutter would trim it from the magazine.

"Keep it as simple as you can"

Positive's picture

Infact i feel like asking Seanmartin... "How long have you been working in advertising? Haven't you heard of innovative media? Which part of the world are you from?

Crisp One's picture 2033 pencils

awwwww....whats wrong pissy pants :-(

LeeHarvey's picture 1798 pencils

Calling an ordinary magazine ad 'innovative', that's what's wrong with mr. Positive Pissy Pants...

Crisp One's picture 2033 pencils

double post...my bad

SeanMartin's picture

Yeah, I've heard of innovative media. I've also heard of gimmicks, which is where this comes from. It's also from the distant land of Havent a Clue, which I gather is your stomping grounds.

Guest commenter's picture

this seems very familiar... i remember an ad where there was a cutout of an egg slipped in between a magazine not too long ago

Guest commenter's picture

Brilliant excellent, congratulations to the Creative Director!!!

NatalieM's picture 1693 pencils

Simple and good use of print.

Steviec's picture 126 pencils

I'm certain that I've seen this ad done about 4 years ago......I think it was for Tefal frying pans? There was an execution with an egg that sat in the page like a bookmark.

wickedtintin's picture 23 pencils

Awesome work!!!

maybegood's picture 5 pencils

I'll give this version an F and the original that was done and in the books a couple years ago an A. Great rip-off job. I feel like when you copy something you should at least change the type of food. It was an egg that was loose sitting on the page so when you open it the egg slides off into your lap.

felicidades!!!
a los diseñadores, porque el trabajo es tripartita y así mismo
me parece que cumple con la teoría de Vitruvio:
1.- es útil
2.- es estético y
3.- es seguro.

Me provoca y me genera curiosidad, yo quiero una.

Atte. ADRIVETTEZUSOL.

Oye Eduardo a quién inspiras????
te recuerdo que eres casado.

Este comentario es mucho más creativo que la misma pieza (me refiero a lo último del comentario).
