I have to disagree. This is a good strategy to show how light this new product are. Try to hold up in the air your 2 pounds notebook for 15 minutes.

angus ng:reply to copywriter...
yes, you are right for try to hold up in the air your 2 pound notebook for 15 minutes is to show how light the product...but it fail because the man is not a real man... furthermore what is a statues? something heavy and motionless. so how can it portrait lightness? how can it portrait motion and easy carrying?
in addition, the viewer only see a statues carrying a product the 'label Light' they won't feel the product is light!
(that is why they will put a slogan like wow...it must be very light... they scare the audience didn't understand...try to imagine with the light word will this statues still portrait light? i doubt that)
to more contrast the typeface of the tough book is wrong. instead using heavy font why don't they use a light font. first it will be eye catching...
because tough does not associate with thin and light type font... (this already make a great impact)

Yes, they are real humans. Here where I live, some actors paint the entire body with white or silver paint to look like statues and earn some money. (check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qnle-Ma5E_4)
But I agree with your other concerns.

Why not have more fun with it...have the guy spinning it on a finger like a basketball. Someone could hold a 10lb laptop like that.

I think to illustrate the fact that it's 'tough'...you should have a child actor sneak up on the painted actor holding the notebook and scare the shyte out of the adult actor to the point where he drops the laptop on the ground or tosses it...I dunno...something. I think that's when you get past the critics who will say "well they could do that with any product that claims to be light"...

While having a person using your product in the field is a good general way to create local buzz about a product, this concept doesn't really convey your main selling feature in a concise way. When I saw this "gosh, what a light computer" wasn't what came to mind.

In fact, doesn't a statue kinda convey weighty and imobile?

i dont even know why would be so important if the laptop is light? nobody os gonna carry the laptop and walk the roads or something, i think if this is the strategy " to show that its a light weight laptop " then this is a total failure, beside the running operating system is going to be vista or whatever it is.. which even gonna make it worse, mac's are the best ever.

sorry but the entire thing here is not interesting at all. 0/10
