agencies, students or whoever need to start understanding that greenpeace, global warming and climate change ads cannot go on like this anymore. Save energy, ok why? i worked on greenpeace a few times. its boring to jsut go on and do the same or find a different solution than what others have done. Someone needs to do something that moves people. SAVE TREES, DONT KILL, BUY LIGHT BULB, DO THIS DO THAT. its over man..im an energy saver but none of those ads have ever affected me in any way. good ideas but an issue like global warming needs to move people. Something like the UNICEF Tap Project: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=3OmN4B7yyS8

And people wont be moved until something drastic happens in their own backyard: it's that simple. Until then, hey, not my problem if a bunch of stupid polar bears die. Just give me my home heating, bud! (he says sarcastically). Here in North Carolina, we've been living in drought conditions for almost two years, with water levels that are such that, at one point in time, the city of Raleigh had about 90 days of drinking water left. The city was charging folks who watered their lawns a penalty of $5,000. And what happened? The rich folks shrugged their shoulders, decided that the amount of money wasnt really that much if they would have a really pretty green lawn, and watered anyway. *That* is the kind of mentality we're dealing with and why most of these campaigns fall flat on their environmentally correct faces.

As stupid as this sounds, what would work far better would be a series of high-profile, star endorsements that flood the airways and the internet. "Hi, I'm Hannah Montana! I turn my thermostat down every night!" I can almost guarantee you that those Hannah Montana fans, the several million of them, will force Mom and Dad to do exactly the same thing. It's appealing to the worst common denominator, but it plays off the cult of personality worship in a way that would actually make that cult useful.

Roll your eyes, guys, but in your heart, you know it'd work. It's not creative. It's not unique. But it would get the job done far more effectively than some cute mechanical thing that sits on the thermostat to be ignored, just like the poor polar bear.

ads like these are usually pro bono. and honestly, i think it would work. especially if you're talking about kids.

hannah montana may move kids but she'll also cost money. plus bec she's an endorser there's also that extra step of making sure everything she does is environmentally friendly...blah blah blah.

endorsement ads are hard to pull off properly and there are so many of them that it may just drown in the clutter of 8,000,000 other stars promoting other products/ causes/ events.

simple is sometimes the most effective.

Disney would give her away for this kind of high-profile endorsement. Heck, they'd probably follow it up with HM "I'm saving energy! How about YOU?" posters and key chain fobs and stickers.

Yes, endorsements get lost in the advertising clutter. That's why timing is everything. Right now, ol' Hannah is a hot property. Six months from now, maybe not so much so, but *right now*, she's as inescapable as Madonna was two decades back.

Is it just me, or is the entire country of China focused only on making around 7 or 8 thousand global warming ads per day? God I hate this global warming shit.

I will never hang that on my wall.

i dont really understand ... are we forced to get the pictures overflowed or what ? i guess NO ONE would buy something like that, first its ugly and work as a christmas card made by a children for his parents, and second because there is no impact except "oh, the bear got his arms in water, huhu"

It only works for those who are conscious of being a human-being. If you're not, it won't work even if it points a gun in front of your shit head.
For me, it totally works.

Call me stupid or anything u like ...but it doesn’t work for me and you neither.....For this kind of things I would say not to make anything innovative or creative devices that just give the feel of PLAY TO KNOW. I hope you got me...people are going to give shit about what your intension was after getting surprise with such PLAY TO KNOW stuff.
