Promotion done at the Department Store ODEL, for the release of the new Harry Potter book. The spoon was magically moving in the cup on its own.

VERY VERY VERY GOOD!!!!!!!

WELL DONE!!!!!!

Less is more's picture

A three and a half minute long video for an idea that take all of three seconds to understand. The more I watched the less I liked. Clearly a case where less is more.

the idea isn't the video...

i would have picked up the spoon and find how that thing is rotating i will be more fascinated by the spoon than the book. funny thing is nobody had the guts to pick it up. would have ben cooler if the pages flip.

How did they do it?

stunning...absolutely great

Cool idea but completely unnecessary. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know about this book. And I bet even most of those rock-dwelling people had one on reserve.

C´mon!

So advertising is unnecessary for every well-known brand cos people already know what they sell? Why don´t Coca-Cola just write "Coca-Cola" in a red paper? You´d have to be living under a rock to not know about this drink.

jebus's picture 359 pencils

You have a point, but in this case I just don't see anyone who wasn't going to buy the book swayed into buying it because of this.

Jebus...
C'mon man... this was obviously done not to "hard sell" the product but to create awareness and excitement at the store it was placed. It's a nice way to stop a shopper from the routine shopping experience into something different...
ads should be more than just ads selling something :)
my 2 cents :)

Meh.

Cute idea, but there's no way they could avoid people breaking or stealing the thing - and then where would your ambient promotion be?

That's what my CD always tells us when we present ambient ideas to him - they've gotta be vandal-proof.

Not to mention, during peak hours, people might actually want to sit at that table and have their own coffee.

dauntless's picture 60 pencils

he he... vandal proof???
nothing's vandal proof these days mate :)
and that's now how you judge ideas :)

moiettoi's picture 26 pencils

Oh cool.. but how? How did the get the tea spoon to move? Something like a rotator inside the cup perhaps? Definitely created some awareness, but should hve hd it in a place where there are more kids, Srilankan adults dnt really know about Potter, the kids knw more..lol and.. yeah people wnting to hve some of their own coffee would kind of be irritated.. lol But all in all, good stuff.

Nice idea... it’s execution seems a little gimmicky though.
