Actually, i believe it is a funny way to remember people that amaericans are not very "liked" overseas (and not only overseas), and that obama would change that, not that everybody could get laid after...i think it is just a way to aproach.

This ad is designed to appeal to a specific kind of voter and a certain market segment.

First, we must ask, who can afford to go overseas?

Typically, there are three types of Americans who travel abroad - a) young college students at expensive universities doing a "study abroad" course, b) businesspersons with secure expense accounts they can use for a jaunt to go skiing in the Alps or lounging on the beach at Cannes as they conduct some tax-deductible business negotiations, and c) employees of the State Department traveling on government business.

For group A, a vote for Obama means that young Americans will be wide eyed and eager about the future and much more attractive to potential sexual partners at that hostel in Amsterdam.

For group B, an Obama presidency says "renewable energy" and makes a trip to investigate thermal heating systems with attractive blond Swedish business partners and attractive option.

For group C, an Obama presidency means that you won't get snubbed at the holiday function at the embassy next year.

Ha, yes you nailed it. These are the ONLY kinds of Americans that travel overseas.

Great, we elected this bullshitter so losers with Europe envy can get laid. No offense, but I was getting laid all over the world when Bush was in office, I don't need a hip bumper sticker to make me appealing. But hey, if it scores you some fur action from some hairy Euro-trash chick, go for it.

I must say, you are a truly charming person. There's a lot of lucky ladies all over the world!

SS+K in NYC had the obama account. this ad is fake.

SeanMartin's picture

Lots of people did their own ads during the campaign. Just because it wasnt done by the "agency of record" doesnt mean it's fake.

"their own" is not produced work. this is pretending obama was their client, which is just not true. it's spec, it's fake, it's to be excluded.

Nice try.

During the campaign, literally *hundreds* of designers and artists worked on materials to promote their candidate. There were at least two sites that had places where you could upload poster designs for Obama -- and then download them for printing. Does that make *them* fake? By your definition, yes.

With this one, I doubt the DNC *paid* the Neew York Cricket Club for this, but I imagine it was produced anyway, just as a gag throwaway sticker but also a political statement about their preference for president. It's just as real as palinaspresident.com was. Just deal with it and move on, huh?

I'm so sick of hearing all this "fake ad" BS.
Who cares if it's a spec ad as long as it's funny, insightful, and/or well-executed.
Anyway, I think this one's kind of funny. Maybe it's because I'm not American...

Guest commenter's picture

This is just stupid and I can't believe people waste their energy to discuss this one

Super lame. Bad attempt at being "edgy".

Guest commenter's picture

Well there must be something in it if people continue discussing it.

Guest commenter's picture

I dig it. Ha ha ha ha ha. Nice one!

I live in NY and the streets were filled with Obama posters and stencils that were obviously not commissioned by the Obama campaign. Thats what made his campaign so effective. Just type in Obama on youtube or flickr and you will see. This sticker is very funny. Its feels great to be American again.

When Bush was in charge, everyone hated us, so therefore no sexy time traveling. With Obama in charge, they like us - maybe more sexy time traveling. Its simple.

Simple for simple minds, yes.
