I'm not sure how many people will open it like that. If it was me i would probably hold it vertical to see what i need to take out.
I agree, I would open from the top, and it would just look like a letter with flags on it. I think its an original attempt.
It depends on how the envelope was made, if the flap was at the right end most people would open it from there.

as for opening it from the top... pls ppl. most of the time with long envelopes u open it from the sides.
the sides being shorter than the top, why would anyone waste their energy on the longer side.
