Really nice idea... though, I think most of the 190 test-drives were not the result of climbers who were confronted with the ads. Rather coincidence or people who have seen the pics on other places...

now, if this is not extremly funny written (and looks like it isn't) I'd find this waaaaaaay too much. in our country people would definetly find these very offensive. taking a day off of everything and run into the stupid test drive ad is a bit over.

besides... 190 test drives in whole Germany? well, that's underachievement, isn't it?

the idea is really unique. 190 test drives is not to be seen as underachievement. its quite a lot regarding the aspect that it is one of the most expensive cars of mercedes benz.

unfortunately test drives don't always have anything to do with the target audience. 'wanna-haves without enough money' are more likely to show up. and according to some study I've read few years ago these wanna-haves can make up to 70% in test drives of luxury cars.

Hahaha I saw the YouTube case, and its funny how they show it.

I think this IS the target audience, because they are looking for people who like outdoor living and adventures there. Its a good way to reach them.

In YouTube they say that the case has been on newspapers, blogs and flickr; and that can never be bad.

In YouTube says: "Over 190 calls for G-Class test drives at Mercedes-Benz dealers". 190 persons calling to Mercedes asking for test drives just in a few days cant be bad too, because this target isnt big.

If I made it all the way up and mountain and was so proud I'd run to scrawl my name in the book... only to find an ad up there..? I think I'd rip the page out. What we do is wonderful, inspiring and hopefully original - but we all need a break from ads. After all that climbing, I'd think I'd earned the right to not have to see the peak decimated by a cheap ploy.

agreed. i cannot imagine accomplishing a climb, only to find my chance to be remembered tainted by an ad. thanks, mercedes.

why?... she wasn't offensive or anything, let her say what she wants...
she gave her opinion as a consumer too (which should always interest us, by the way).
honestly sometimes i think the same, a break is welcome every now and then.
