I think this a a good idea, and I guess there are a lot of stupid people out there that just have to put negative comments on everything. This is great, and the whole "looks dirty" comment is just plain stupid. I bet that guy is an account director.

It looks nice at first, but what product advantage does it give us? "You can walk over our fries"? "Safe to cross"? "You'll find them on the road?" I got the feeling this is the beginning of something good, or something that should be killed. Looks nice, but it doesn't feel finished. At least not to me.
You could either get two messages: the first one that these fries help you walk around, cross roads, get rid of your hunger... and the second one, sadly, that these fries are so bad and unhealthy that you can walk all over them..

Zebra crossings fulfill a real, public function, and should not be a commercial platform.
This is very cool. I think this is a great idea! Way to think out of the box. In photo class my professor said that many pictures are boring because the picture is eye level. But this is a great way to take advantage of your surroundings and stand out from the rest of the competition. I like how McDonald’s incorporated the crosswalk as the fries. Great use of visuals! :)

I think the fact it's got so many comments makes it successful in someway. Seeing it and directly thinking "eh, i'm walking over the fries now i;m gonna eat them?!" is surely and obviously not the point and not the very first thing you would think. I would have thought you would generally see it think "ha thats clever... ah - McDonald's" and there cleverly its BANG straight in your mind.
If your take away of this ad is that you are "walking on food," you should probably just quit advertising (if you're even in it). And if you don't like McDonalds for political reasons or otherwise, it doesn't matter. You're not the target. However, if you are considering going into Macs, this could be just the right push that almost hypnotically directs you to walk through the doors. It blends incredibly well into the urban environment and doesn't hit you over the head with a message. Very nice.

Sorry, but just because the executions use the same media [no matter how untraditional], that doesn't mean you've used the same idea.
DDB Shanghai did something very different [in my opinion] than TBWA Zürich.
