Oh please...Don't tell me that anyone could believe that rolling paper are for rolling cigarets. Those ones, are so used to roll joints !!!! So we're talking about the hunger after smoking pot...
1st - This idea is crap
2nd - This is so iresponsible...

Don't tell me that you guys are proud of this idea...This is shit.

Guest's picture

This is brilliant!

grinch's picture

2 creative directors want to take credit for this sh*t? I guess I don't understand advertising anymore.

Guest commenter's picture

jointpapers?? hEH .... pizza's for potheads? :)

missed my turn's picture 426 pencils

I think it's funny, but I wouldn't give them away at the pizza place. Takes all the surprise out of the media buy.

Plus, I wonder what the strategist was doing when he came up with this. "Duuuuudddeee what if we...."

Guest commenter's picture

actually makes sense.
get smoked up, get a hunger attack, order pizza.
moral? naaaaah.

Guest commenter's picture

italians of course!

Io's picture

I am from Italy and I know for sure that no one uses this rolling paper to roll cigarette. Plus, as a joint smoker, I also know that all the smokers use that part of the package to make filters for the joints, wasting the "business card".
Big NO!

Mandark's picture 407 pencils

do u have any idea how high pot prices are now with the economical crisis? if i were police i would check every pizza boy that delivers for fly pizza. if they though of this...and are pround of it ....they might go FULL SERVICE...i'm not saying...i'm just sayin...

this is wrong!!

"U think it's perfect?! Press delete and start again!"

Guest commenter's picture

Great... Im the target, I like it.
I`ll visit Fly Pizza someday...

Guest commenter's picture

You must be high to like this sh..

Hibon's picture 3609 pencils

This is the kind of advertising that will make advertising detestable by responsible people, brands, clients, governments, etc.... The guy that says "i'm the target..i like it ..." should go back to primary school and start educationl!!!!

Simple ideas are the best !

brndnrap8's picture 170 pencils

I'd put my pizza in that $h*t and smoke it!

High as a slice of pizza!!!

Yikes. This is just wrong--wrong message, wrong approach, ethically wrong, you name it. And it's from Publicis? And the client went with it? Wha'?

dado.p's picture

What the f***?
Okay, they must have gainned a few more young costumers that smokes pot and stays up late (what a target huh?)
But I bet that a lot more other customers, that aren't idiots and know that this is made for pot and don't support it, just won't eat this pizza for a long time.
So, if you are not thinking right, just think for your client.
For God's sake.

tototwiga's picture 153 pencils

I was not offended by the campaign. I thought it had a spark of brilliance. And I'm not talking about the match/lighter.

People smoke. People save money by rolling their own cigarettes, especially during economic hard times. Just because some of you imagine that papers are only for pot... get out more often.

jochen's picture 404 pencils

i don't care what you smoke.
but i think it should not be encouraged at all!

"Life, the universe and advertising"

Willie Nelson's picture

People usually roll cigarettes with short papers. Long papers are most often used to roll joints.
The idea and target is spot on, the line "Delivery for sudden hunger attacks" is a clear reference
to having the munchies.
Please note that it is a Pizza delivery ad and not a social awareness campaign.
Good job.

shametobeitalian's picture

ma vaffanculo.

kgeiger's picture 6642 pencils

Nice insight.
Ethics and morals? C'mon, this is advertising.

SeanMartin's picture

Man, folks, where's your outrage at the beer ads that promote irresponsible drinking so you can get laid? The car ads that encourage you to drive REALLY FAST without one word of responsibility?

Right.

Face it: smoking pot and getting the munchies afterwards is a fact of life -- and has been for almost fifty years now. You dont like it? Tough shit. The Europeans seem to have a slightly more aware attitude when it comes to something as simple (and simplistic) as pot, and Fly did a good job of seeing an obvious niche in their market and acting on it.

And that's how advertising works. Deal with it, or go into another profession.

Guest commenter's picture

Yeah, smoking is bad, but this kind of shit seems to work. It's like carrot mob for smokers, if someone favors smokers, then smokers will favor his/her business..

Guest commenter's picture

And I would like to draw your attention to the client's name ladies & gentlemen.

Zeus's picture 916 pencils

for the munchies fly pizza!! jajajaja this is great!!

Rookieoftheyear's picture 38 pencils

I love getting super stoned and ordering tasty pizzas, and the fact that you can use the "business card" as filter for huge spliffs is even better. Grade A Potent Advertising.

ummagumma's picture

If we give smoking cigarettes are you encouraging smokers?

If we give free food sample are we encouraging people to become fat?

This is advertising initiative.

Starting from a insight

we give a promise, a service

in order to reach a commercial objective.

Are you not a smoker? This is not for you, maybe. You are not the target.

Do you judge your friends who smoke? Would you judge them if they get this smoking papers?

Ask them if they would or not call for a pizza while stoned and unwilling to cook, to prepare food.

If they will say yes: campaign works. It's not about right or wrong. It works.

Please don't be moral on the net just to stand up as ethic defender...

this is ADS OF THE WORLD not MORAL OF THE WORLD.

best

Guest's picture

Guest commenter's picture

a really good conceptual idea but there may be a downside in offending people. PERSONALLY i'd tip the delivery guy another 5 on top if you brought me another business card to go with my 2 large pizzas, 4 dozen chicken wings , 5 garlic knots and a 2 litre

Guest commenter's picture

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! CANNES GOLD IN AT LEAST THREE CATEGORIES!

THE RELEVANCE TO PIZZA IS SO SUBTLE, THAT IT'S GENIUS!

IF YOU PUT AN AD FOR HAMBURGERS THERE, IT JUST WOULDN'T WORK! BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS NOW!

Guest commenter's picture

so ragazzi!

Wordnerd's picture 6617 pencils

good thinking. weed and pizza are a perfect match. but so is weed and being a lazy bastard - i hope they included those king size papers on their ordering menu as well

it's just hilarious, how they try to talk they way out of the real intention in the description "saving money by rolling their own cigarettes" hahaha. they shouldn't be afraid to say that potheads are a BIG target group for food delivery services. that's a fact

unaquestionediali's picture 477 pencils

Dude I wish I had a fly pizza in my area last night. I had to settle for papa johns and they suck. This ethical BS some of you people are throwing around makes me laugh. If you want to get all ethical you better stay in your house, throw out your TV, and cancel your internet. How many times do I have to sit through a grow your pecker TV ad hell they have that crap on race cars. This is a harmless ad nothing more take your boring crap back to church and leave the rest of us alone.

i guess (ahah guess) tobacco is not the subject here and being a 'tobacco' smoker I love the concept, seriously.
and it's not encouraging young people to smoke...'oh darn, i've got smoking paper but i don't smoke...guess i need to start now that i have everything." come on...ahah
