Deadline extended till Dec 15!
CBS’s copywriters are referring to the medium as “egg-vertising,” hinting at the wordplay they have in store. Some of their planned slogans: “CSI” (“Crack the Case on CBS”); “The Amazing Race” (“Scramble to Win on CBS”); and “Shark” (“Hard-Boiled Drama.”). Variations on the ad for its Monday night lineup of comedy shows include “Shelling Out Laughs,” “Funny Side Up” and “Leave the Yolks to Us.” Read more
I think it's such a great potential, but I don't see a relevance of eggs to TV station or TV shows. They could've forced a connection by saying something like "Start your day with CBS".

that's sickening. i don't want advertising on my egg. gawd! what are we coming to. can't i have my privacy and keep it? first we have google maps that show me my bathroom. and now eggs with advertising on it. don't these people know their limits at all? and what ink do you use to write on my morning egg? egg shells are porous right? ugh...
ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
Same as first post
a new untraditional media should be more than an excuse for a bunch of corny puns. i scrambled to make sense of it. maybe the creatives couldn't crack it. Maybe the CD is a yellow belly. See, this post wasn't funny, and neither were the eggs.
But it was a nice try at something new, that's the sunny side.
Corny eggs, eh? Perhaps laid by cornish hens? God, that was a horrible pun. I'm going to shower now.
If this shows up at my supermarket I will drop the cartons on the floor. Hopefully the grocer will get the hint and not allow this.
I applaud the effort, but this stuff is what perpetuates our profession as one of the all-time least-trusted.

I like it hahahah
Would collect the whole set if I could.
I don't see how printing on eggs become an invasion of your privacy though.
Maybe an invasion of the chickens' privacy. :P
Chippery, I think the egg has been used in advertising all along. Nothing new there.
At first I thought they were plain bars of soap. Now that would have been an idea.
Still, you can offend someone so easily these days. I bet in some cultures a bar of soap would be offensive too.
I would'nt eat those eggs. But I would still collect branded bars of soap. Advertising is everywhere. Bad advertising for that matter is easier to find.
Used in advertising all along eh? Guess I've got egg on my face then.
Puke - get me out of this horrible place...
I can't wait for the newspaper headline: "Katie Couric lays an egg on CBS News." That will be funny.
i'm not very eggstatic about this un-eggcelent eggcecution.
see, it's making me do stupid crap, too.
Okay I won't egg you on then. This eggscursion is getting a little out of hen.
Poach me am I dreaming or is this really an ad, I eggmatically agree this campaign is nothing but a shell of an idea.
I too am a bit cornfused as to why it would get such an angry eggsponce. I certainly would never have considered it a “right to privacy” scramble. Goes to show; You shouldn’t keep all you eggs in one basket.
To be honest, the new media has me intrigued but all the kings' horses and all the kings' men couldn't make egg puns funny ever again.
As for the ink on the eggs, well, it works for easter eggs don't it? Nevertheless, the godawful copy will no doubt result in this idea getting beat.
On the other hand, I'm guessing that our constant laying of pun laden posts are just, well, egging them on.
(This is just too easy. Must... leave...)
yellow fever to the guys who did this ad
Relevance to a TV station seems to be the main problem.
But, it's an OK idea.
Not worth the fuss it's causing on all the adblogs, though ... including mine :)
It wasn't really a fuss to me, It's really been eggtastic.
OK that's all I've got... it's over(easy):)
Whatever your opinion is on the eggs, the outline method they are using to print on them makes the CBS logo and Show titles look awful. I'd be pissed if I had designed one of those titles and this is how they're advertising it.
In the end, this is probably a good idea for CBS, at least for a little while. It gets them more exposure in the supermarket. For the egg industry it is a dumb, dumb move. No one is going to take those eggs home.
Just to clarify, This is a print ad campaign. Eggs are the focus because of the wordplay with ‘eggvertising’ and the associational pun for each show’s new season release.
It was never meant to be printed on actual eggs and sold in Grocery stores. and has nothing to do with the egg industry.
There is no association between eggs and CBS except for the wordplay.
I’m sure there are those who found it funny, I personally think it was rather corny. I got more from making fun of it than the ad itself.

Actually, no, it really is meant to be printed on eggs!

I was told that the media story release was a part of the campaign as a spoof but there was no actual intention to advertise on eggs. I don’t have first hand info.
