Excellent..

A concept that everyone has in minds but to execute it in this way.. is really tough

this is really cool!!! :)

hey... check this out, http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/2889/kuburan2dq.jpg ,from local agency in yogyakarta indonesia. made in 2004

But this one is better and more impact to smokers.
If this isn't a scam, I'm sure will be a winner. Well done.

different medium dude...

wow.

fuck, its very bad idea. chinky. but nice

With reference to http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/2889/kuburan2dq.jpg all i have to say is that Wow! its fantastic for creatives from Everest to copy a visual idea as it is, fit it into your context and then proudly display it.
Great work guys!
Also is terrefic that they are awarded at Cannes for this ad. So, what is the moral of the story?

Looking at the perspective, the lighting and the mood in general I have to say that the indonesian ad has even better Impact, so it's not even an improved scam.

Indonesian ad is more powerful I think. Overall concept (of both ads) is a good one.

I can't say that I agree on this being an "excellent" idea. And what impact to smokers?? There's not one single smoker in the world who is not aware of the danger with smoking. This does NOT make smoker quit. Most smokers want to quit. In sweden (yes my country) we had a few ads with actual loungs cut open showing what it looks like inside. Terrible let me tell you. Chocking! Smokers agreed but I'm not sure it helped. My friends still smoke, and want to quit. Anti-smoking organizations!! Save your money and produce actual material (books and stuff) that actually helps people to quit. Goddamit, you have to choose your battles. The information battle has been fought and neither side won. WE KNOW ABOUT THE RISKS. NOW HELP US!!

Dear stsanto

Copying the concept and putting it on a diffrent medium doesn't legitimise the theft.
It's like stealing a car and changing the color, the car remains a stolen one.

please be fair to the creator as well, it might be just a coincident.

i experience once before, after i finish the artwork then saw an idea almost hundred percent look like my artwork. so does that make me a copycat? is it no one else had the same experience?

i'm not backing the creator as i don't know what's the story, but...
not everything is as simple as abc, there is alot of possibility.
don't judge a book from it cover, u call urself creatives remember?

regardless of where the concept came from, it's pretty damn good. Most creatives only think of full page bleed ads and :30 tv spots. I think this would stay with a lot of viewers.

its mere coincidence........respect the thought and effort put in rather than ripping it apart altogether.....we all know wat kind of effort goes into making an ad...and at the international level no one is an idiot to copy an idea and have the gutts to send it to cannes......think about it.....
all in all gr8 ad keep up the good work.....

love it!

it is exactly same.. but we dont know are they stole it or build their own idea except them. because the idea is very simple but great, it is about exact perspective.
But in any circumstances, wherever it is (cannes or even local festival) we must respect other artworks..
ideas is unlimitted.

I agree with O.S. on this one. What is the intended goal of this ad? If you want to inspire people to quit smoking, don't show them pictures of death and cancerous lungs, show them pictures of life and happiness... what their lives can be like if they quit.

Ads like this only push away the smoking population and make them angry and alienated, which is the exact opposite thing that an ad should be doing. It's brilliantly executed (no comment on the theft issue) and even the placement is creative. But is it practical? No. I'm assuming that this would go on the ceiling of a smoking room in some commercial establishment. Do you think anyone would want to plaster that on their property, knowing that it will drive away their business?
