Also, is it crazy to send it all over the country?
There are over 250 agencies (that I know of) in New York. Go to AgencyComPile.com to look some of them up, send your book to all of them and tell them you are going to be in town from (enter your location here) and would lke to stop in and see them while in town. You should get about 10 interviews which would make a trip very worth wile.
Plus, you get to come to MY city, NYC, the greatest city EVER!!!!!! (insert evil sounding laugh here)

sometimes, within the US, if the company sees your stuff and likes it, they are willing to comp for the plane tickets to fly you to their offices.
I'd be reserved about flying all the way out here without some confirmation.

Try to get your book to a few agaencies prior, if they like your work, they'll fly you out all expenses paid.
