also ... the "this is so good you'll never use that again" approach has been done a million times. do your homework and read some old CA annuals, then try a real client and a novel approach and then we'll talk again.
no it was normal briefing and i found this idea in the depths of my hard drive
so pls relax and try to yell on the kids in your neighborhood for playing with the ball after 19 o clock.
so you work for taxi then? 'cause last time I checked they had that brand covered. (in case this was a brief handed down by an ad school instructor, he or she isn't worth duck shite.)
you're doing yourself a massive disservice if you include this kind of work in your book. I'm offering to save you from that. take my help or not, it's up to you. I suppose there can never be too many drive-through workers.
mr krautland i worked for tbwa her ein berlin
Ansd i know this is a piece of brilliance so i dont know if you`re just kidding or if you got serious problems with accepting that some others could have a good idea too
haven't seen much good work out of tbwa berlin. haven't ever heard them mentioned as a noteworthy shop at chiat la. if you really think this is a good idea then you really need to go to a proper ad school. any decent instructor would mow you down for going with such a client or concept. clearly you haven't gotten tough crits yet.
btw: aren't you the one who just posted a bunch of spam email pictures from the 90s as his great canon concepts? oh yes, you are.
mr krautland i worked for tbwa her ein berlin
Ansd i know this is a piece of brilliance so i dont know if you`re just kidding or if you got serious problems with accepting that some others could have a good idea too
Ok grand prix or gold even silver is a high goal
but you know if they realized it and send it in no one knows what really happens
of course a good art direction is required
but let me ask a question about you guys
is it a kind of fear or are you guys really fucked up with everything?
Otherwise i can`t explain for myself why you are so cheeky
in which agencies do you work that they tolerate such a behaviour?
If i see you i know for sure how i`m not going to become
i don't know why you're so agressive
this forum people put stuff for feedback.
sometimes you think you have a great ad and other people don't like.
These ads here are not so good. not terribly bad but not great either. It really is NOT a piece of brilliance. Sorry
If you expect people to say everything you come up with is great, then go work in your moms agency.
yes you`re right
but here in this forum the outcome of the most discussions is that we all are shit.
maybe its because the most ads are shit but if i read all the comments i always have this sense.
if i need a serious opinon and some good advice about how to improve i ask my cd
I was really just gonna login to laugh about krautland's comment above, but now I gotta say something.
First of all, the way you come off with youre whole "feel free to congratulate me" well, you're just coming off as a stuck up prick. Sorry, but that's the truth. I thought you were just playing at first, but now that I read your other replies I can see that my statement above is probably more true than not.
Second, the idea above is ok, at its best. Like some have told you it could work. Like you kind of said, a good art direction could maybe push it a bit further. But trust me no Lion for you.
Third, if "the outcome of most discussions is that we are all shit" well... maybe we are. If a person keeps telling you your work is shit, then another comes along and does the same thing and so on... They might have a little bit of a point. Maybe we should take a hint, no? I say we because I've put work up too and have gotten some harsh feedback. You gotta have thick skin man.
I give you that some of these people just talk out of their ass, but alot know what they're talking about. Look at some other posts from them and see for yourself. For example: krautland (Not picking at you at all) He is pretty harsh in a lot of his critiques. At first I guess it could come off as a bad thing. But when he does give a good critique or an opinion on something, it is a very well thought out/ written out response. That's how you know when someone knows what they're talking about.
See krautland, turned out to be a compliment! I just hope you read all the way to this point...
Back to spoonyluv, you say you worked at tbwa. Then you should know very well that there are CD's that are WAY harsher than anyone on this board.
Oh and by the way, take this with a grain of salt because I'm still a student. This is all just from my experience through interactions with professionals, internships and research.
oh, I did read it all the way to its end and I agree that I am harsh.
I intend to be harsh. I want him to be pissed. I want him to get to the point where he never wants to hear such words again and ends up sitting down and working on some ads. these are first thoughts. giving him a softer crit would mean setting him up for faliure. the difference is that the hiring cd won't bother telling him why he didn't like his book and that when he does get a massively shitty crit from a cd at a shop he works at it'll have serious implications on his future. I'm trying to push him to do better work.
what bothers me a lot in this forum is that we often get to see two or three half-baked ideas. he should have uploaded thirty, taken the critisism and done another thirty. and another if that's what it took. that is how great work happens.
Yeah everything you said is what I was trying to convey, but I guess you just said it a little bit better.
But yeah, I respect you for this. There are some people who just tear up EVERYTHING and are just negative all the time, without giving good feedback on anything. And I was trying to say that there are actually people on here (like you) that give the compliments when warranted and don't sugar coat it when not. I've had my run in with CD's (albeit I didn't work for them) that have looked at my book and just DESTROYED some of the stuff. Then they got to a couple of things that they really liked. I knew then that, well, if they destroyed the other things and they're actually complimenting me on others, they must like them.
Anyway, I totally agree with you.
P.S. From what you mentioned in another post, are you from or are you in LA? If so, I'm in San Diego and I'm graduating in September... I need a JOB! Haha
first of all i think we just surfing every day on the wave of self cnfidence and feelin` like a little prick
you dont know me so your opinion about me is kind of meaningless to me maybe im the biggest asshole in the industry maybe not.
So i guess the little idiots we are that we post our ideas here are juniors or students like you.
Of course we have to rethink some things or some ads are weak but you dont courage people to do it better when you`re yellig them down.
when i go to my cd and im coming out of this meeting, im feeling like a japanese kamikaze fighter ready for whatever
so you dont have to powder me but also dont act like a coward stonethrower.
so like i said before this means no offense just my two cents
ps. if you`re a student maybe you dont know but never ever say: trust me
>ut you dont courage people to do it better when you`re yellig them down.
I disagree. the strongest work I have ever produced was under an ECD who shot down work after work after work until it was fucking brilliant. you seem to be unused or unable to handle critisism.
>when i go to my cd and im coming out of this meeting, im feeling like a japanese kamikaze fighter ready for whatever
do show this work to your cd. if he doesn't shred it to pieces get the hell out of the shop. you won't learn a thing there.
>ps. if you`re a student maybe you dont know but never ever say: trust me
I for one am not a student and I haven't been one in a looooong time. but I remember seeing your level of thinking from my first term.
Kinda nice. I think Ivan posted something similar at the front page; a visual with two old couples with lots of cats/kittens. Wasn't sure if it's for Viagra. Ivan, can you check it?
Literal?? I guess...Brill?!? Fuck yeah. I love those. I miss the french guy at the end, tho.
Ya he does have a point, but I still think sex is fun, so have fun with advertising about it. The world is full of ads with tits & ass. TAXI's viagra stuff didn't even have women in them until recently.
And the "Good Morning" spot doesn't even have a word of dialogue.
(my fave will always be the old guy on the golf course, tho :P)

oh lol
Kudos, not the typical boner pill ad. I like where you have taken this.

a piece of brilliance...
because of product a you'll never use b or c again. yep brilliant...
is it a gold lion or a grand prix? THAT is the question

have you actually read the forums? there is plenty of work here that gets positive feedback. shit, even I give plenty of positive feedback.
but giving positive feedback for work that will get you laughed at as a kid who needs to take a couple ad classes first doesn't help.
I was really just gonna login to laugh about krautland's comment above, but now I gotta say something.

Viagra is about sex. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing more. So for once it'd be refreshing to see an execution that is just 'sexy'.
That's a little 2-dimensional, isn't it?
I mean, coke is about sugar water, but I've never seen a Coke ad featuring rotten teeth, if you get my meaning.

Yes, it cool, yes it works, but far is not new, IMHO
I'm still waiting to hear what the berlin creative director said about this work.
(and I have a feeling considering that spoony hasn't written anything in three days)
