It's what you get when you blur both sides of an aerial view except for the middle part. It was popular for a while within the photoshop communities and logically found it's way to advertising.

That effect has kinda lost it's creative value now that it's been used in quite a few campaigns. But I must say, this one looks really good.

well. never saw a campaign using the effect. until now... thanx for the example. :(
Watch the Thunderbirds TV show and you'll see it occuring naturally when shooting real miniatures. It's a simple effect to create in photoshop.

I think it is OK to use the blur. Go for it.
