Norton Systemworks.

Ok everybody, this is the beginning of a little campaign that spreads over two more posters. I guess you do need to have used XP, so diehard mac users might just not get it. But even them probably've glanced at it at some point in time. No heading because of the desktop feel, no icons because I don't want to overstate it's a desktop. That's it.

I think it's nice cause I've used XP Kris, it's smart. Is this student work?

Good Job.

Yeah it's student work, since I'm still in school. But it wasn't an actual assignment, more of a self created brief to fill your portfolio kinda thing. Still trying to make the series work. Thanks btw.

I would change the gardner's suit yellow since norton is always yellow and blue NO? YES? NO?..

I remember back in the days when norton disc doctor was wearing an afro instead of the hard drive it's a turntable.

The suit thing was kind of a difficult decision, if it's yellow it's certainly more norton, but it's much less a gardener. It loses some subtlety that I tried to get into the ad. But I'm not entirely sure about it. That dj disk thing sounds really cool though.

I agree with pixelbomb kris. It wouldn't be like "Oh no! he's on a yellow suit, he's not a gardener", it would help to be more Norton and it would still be taking care of the system.

Dunno if it would help, but here's an idea: What about a garbage collector, taking out the garbage from the recycle bin icon.

Let me try and see if that works, since it can't be floating in the sky it'd have to lay it on the grass or something. Might be funny if it's the real bin icon fell over with lots of real garbage around it. Thanks for the input. I've got another one with a guy searching with a metal detector for the data recovery part of systemworks.

agreed. an icon or two would help.

you could even remove the logo, and use a desktop icon of "Norton Systemworks" with the mouse over it.

if it's the only icon on the graphic people will look at it.

great start. keep to the pace.

Hey Kris... another excellent idea. congrats. But this time im afraid I once again have issues with your choice of art direction.

If you made the desktop aspect more clearer, and emphasized the workers doing their part, its much less cryptic and IMO more effective.

i really like the suggestion of using the trash bin somehow. Maybe have pixel based workers doing things like planting real life trees, cutting the grass, window washers washing the screen off of trolleys hanging from the monitor top etc.

your layout could easily include the insantly recognized windows START bar, except have your Norton Sytsemworks logo there.

Excellent idea though.

Great idea ! I think the ad is fully understandable as it is. But i do agree whith pixelbomb on the yellow suit. And the gardener still looks a bit photoshoped (try too blur the edges and get the light right).
Good work !
