This means nothing. It looks like someone in third grade thought it was cool and did it with no second thought.
yes, it means freelance! I did the illustrations and the headline. Well, this is a school project and it´s part of a campaign. I have three press ads, the first (this one) it´s a reference to the old zombie movies, the second to the nasty porno of the 70´s and the last is a reference to old ufo´s movies. Concept: some things deserve to come back (nike vintage) others don´t (the rest from the 70´s).
Now, this work was developed under the supervising of a teacher wich happens to be a cannes gold winner...who really enjoyed this work, so you can take your crappy critique and shove it. Learn to make constructive critiques because critiques like this are not welcome.
Ok, let's put things in place here. First of all, you put your work up here for critique. Be prepared to receive some bad comments here, even if they include mine. Try to learn from them. This is my opinion and even if it was supervised by a Cannes lions winner, I don't care. There are enough of those around here. Everybody has their opinion. Telling me to "shove" mine doesn't make it any less worthy or theirs any worthier.
What I'm telling you is this:
If you're making an ad for a brand it better have that look and feel of the brand, unless you have something brilliant which in my honest opinion you don't.
I didn't get you had till you explained it to me. If you want to pass the look and feel of old zombie movies you have to work on it, just drawing zombies isn't enough.
As for the idea itself, once explained, it's... nice. The problem is that there is too much explaining to do. The visual can be much simpler and the copy could be sharper and less self-explaining.
On the bright side, "Just re-live it" was cute.

I think the idea behind this is fun, but I have to agree that the illustration work could be better. I mean that in the zombie one it should have real people with the cheesy not so realistic monster, you know. I think what BFB says about the illustration doesn't mean that is bad, but if it is suppose to represent an old zombie movie, this one doesn't do it for me. As for the 70's porn and ufo's, i think you are on to something here. Just make sure to research what posters and such looked liked back then.
Ok, i agree. The illustration doesn´t remind us of the old zombie movies, that´s true, But with the other two pieces the concept would lool like much more clear i think. or perhaps with a strong bodycopy to help people to understand the concept...i know that´s a wrong way to go, the image should speak for itself. I get the idea, but sorry, but I don't think this execution fits Nike (too cartoony) or vintage shoes in general. Just re-do it.
agreed in this "not being" nike. there is a place in an art director's book for an awesome looking campaign without a deeper idea-driven concept (but don't do more than one or they'll hire you as a writer's wrist) but then you'd have to put some serious time and dedication into the execution. I'm lukewarm on what you have.

I am so tired of seeing this ridiculous work commented on time and time again. He's even adapted one of the most enduring ad slogans of all time and screwed it up. The ad says nothing and looks like shit. Will you all just drop it!

If you're going to do the gooey, drippy type, YOU MUST HAND DRAW. (or trace and modify)
Among a few other things, the grave shadows are killing me. Either they go the right direction or just leave them out.
I could go on, but you'll probably drop these before they get to your book.

the main thing to remember is, that EVERY creative had a concept with old movieposters, propagandaposters, etcetera. It's a classic.
