utterly ridiculous. funny, poignant, but not an ad (as if you intended it to be).
Exactly how high did you jump for joy when the D's took back the house and senate?
P.S. m not republican
honestly, i did intend it to be an ad. I dont feel it has to do with being a D or R. More with his personal
You're going about the process of making an ad in reverse. Instead of finding an ad to fit the visual, try and craft a totally unique visual that fits the concept of the ad. Occasionally what you're doing here works, take the TIME magazine campaign, but that was saved by terrific writing. What you're trying to say is that condoms prevent the negative effects of pregnancy (in this case, the passing of inferior genes), how else could you show that without borrowing from an already entrenched media visual?
In other words, don't merely state that pregnancy has negative concequences (obvious), instead try and illuminate why these are negative concequences, find an emotional connection with the product to the consumer.
One more thing. If you're making this for a book, condoms are overdone in the student realm, and the bar is so high (or often, the entry so low) that it's not worth doing unless it's award worthy.
All that aside, Barbara shoulda made George Sr. put on his jimmyhat before gettin' down to it.
thank you for your insight..Im trying to get in to an ad school..and am brainstorming for my portfolio. By your comments..i get the idea that you are a professor..am i wrong?
Not a bad idea, just a bad execution. And this exact idea has been done, George and father in a golf cart, with the line... "one is enough". Personally, none would have been a whole lot better for this angry world of ours.
Haha, flattered but no. I am 3rd quarter student at Chicago Portfolio School. I hope that doesn't discredit me, I'm just crazy about advertising, and have been "studying" it, if you will, for quite some time. That, in conjunction with a healthy dose of real life Creative Director public whippings over my previous student work and the school I'm going to now has lead me to have strong opinions on what makes "great" in advertising. What schools are you looking at, Miami, VCU? You in US, no? You've got some balls in your ads, which is promising, but try and find some focus, some direction (school will def. help).
Also, most schools will consider you regardless of how your book looks, even based on tangent artwork, writings, etc.
does jiffi's condoms ads ring a bell to anyone here
The man who stops advertising to save money is like the man who stops the clock to save time
