HobbyTown Gift Cards

So these are the roughs, the real deal would include other elements to go along with each "hobby" and nice photography. I just wanted to get a feel for what people thought. I am also exploring much quicker reads as far as executuions. Some of which include:

- paint-by-numbers (with some left uncolored)
- wood burning (burnt in wood)
- drafting (architectural type drawing)
- ceramics (glazed and fired)
- card collecting (put into a protective slip)

Oh yeah, I'll include elements like saws, radio controlers, etc. The puzzle execution will have a piece sitting a little bit away, that kind of thing. The big idea is that the gift card is the hobby.

its 'nice'... its not completely linear, its on strategy.

If you are open to critque then my feeling is that its a little basic. Which isnt a bad thing when you're crafting ads for actual clients. If this is a spec ad, then usually 'nice' isn't something you end up keeping for your book.

If it were a Circuit City card, you'd stick a volume knob on it... or a widescreen tv stand under it... or plug a mouse into two of them (laptop)... you get my point...

To me these are very boring and expected.

Your strategy is not very deep, (we are a hobby place and we have gift cards), which means your execution has to be that much more interesting and surprising. It is neither.

Right now you are are just showing a gift card and showing a hobby. What would be more interesting is to show a hobby with out showing the typical things one would associate with hobbies. Adding the element of the gift card doesn't add anything.

I think you are better then these ads.

I like these.

Very clean, simple but with a nice twist. I don't buy the whole "it could have been done by any store." How about "we were here first."

I think you could take the executions a bit farther. Why limit this idea to print? If these things are being sold in the store at the counter, why not try to do something in that medium. Take advantage of all the free media space available.

Keep working but you have a good idea working here.

Yeah, was thinknig of non-traditional for some of them actually being the redesigned gift cards, or even business cards.

these are nothing new, oh wait, there is never anything new. It's a nice execution of the strategy. Nice. Not awesome, not breathtaking, not stuf#*@ingpendous. Nice. And I say that without malice.
