I have like an impression that Dash wouldn't be associated with the KKK. Is it supposed to be a spoof ad ?
The art direction is ok even tough the visual should be either all illustration or all photo (not half half), but then again it's hard making this ads whitout a professionnal photographer.
But the ad seems really racist, (even if i noticed it was a black man), wich is definitely not a good thing.

what the hell are you talking about man ?!!! when you see a guy wearing that outfit and it says "white power" underneath it, you automatically think of the KKK. There is nothing in this picture refering to the religious ceremony.
And yes, the guy wearing the outfit is black, so I assumed it was a pittyfull atempt on your behalf to make it less racist.

Hey there, before you try to get smart and toss witty insults here, I suggest you do two things...
1) actually have a real point to make, because as I said, it may not be racists to you, but there ARE racist elements in this ad, and to even pretend its something a brand would use to promote itself is idiotic. You may want to rethink your career path my friend.
2) Learn to speak english. Telling me to breath(e) a(n?) new air other than my farts it appears made only good? I'm not here to randomly insult good ads. Pretending there are no racist connotations in that ad is silly, and thinking its an ad that could ever be used for a client is even sillier.

You really don't get it do you. Try to comprehend that you are selling a detergent brand by using an image that resembles the KKK and has the headline 'white power'... irregardless if you are black/white/grey or whether its religious or racist, the very fact that it is extremely unclear and can be misinterpreted by the mass populace makes it an exercise in futility. No brand would touch that one... ever. Case closed. By arguing this fact, you seem to be illustrating either a poor attitude towards criticism or a poor grasp on advertising fundamentals in general. I'm closed on this subject, it's really not worth quarrelling with someone that can't understand why this ad at best a joke that never should be included in a student book, let alone pitched to a client. To suggest otherwise is completely absurd in fact.

daprankster- clearly you are hell bent on keeping this ad in your portfolio and didn't really want an opinion on it or any views. so do it. keep it in your portfolio. show it to all the creative directors you come across. argue with them about why it's a great ad, and don't listen to them when they have a different view on it. tell them that they should take a laxative. i wish you luck.

two. i know two black creative directors, and i know 2 chinese creative directors and at least 6 female creative directors and some of them are black and chinese and white and brown.

Pay attention more closely. I wasn't insulting graphic designers, I worked as one for many years. I was being respectful and honest with 'daprankster', quite cordial in fact until unfounded accustations of being racist and a fart inhaler were levied on me. Even then I tried to explain the reason why this ad wouldnt be accepted in a simple honest way... to which I was called stupid, racist and yes, once again a fart inhaler.

Het gebruik van de Nederlandse taal maakt het onmogelijk dat de overige blog-lezers van jouw reactie kunnen meegenieten, ook iets wat in de reclame een onhandige zet is, hier ook niet erg collegiaal overigens. Uiteraard sta ik open voor kritiek! Daar is dit blog mijn inziens voor bedoeld. Het is niet een plaats waar straattaal en scheldwoorden geplaats horen te worden (misschien een idee de regels van dit blog nog eens door te nemen). Op de overige bedreigingen “het verbouwen van mijn gore bek” e.d. wens ik niet eens in te gaan. Je stelt dat ik geen kritiek aankan, maar deze wijze van reageren is een directe aanval op mij als persoon en betrekt mijn werk op generlei wijze. If they receive "building critique?" to help them they just spout foul language and act all "I am the man, and I can curse and act like a doofus" I don't know why I am still putting effort in it.
