interesting, i feel like i saw before, if not, cool ad, good job.
flat.
Don't know if concept has been used before or not, but I'm kinda diggin' the art direction on this.
Ok, it's a grave stone made from a zippo lighter with a 'Swiss' logo on it. I find it confusing but above all your not saying much. I'm getting a bit sick of seeing nice photos with too much detail. Ease up on the unsharp mask filter. I think I've seen the shot somewhere else aswell.
cool art direction. the idea is a lot less...
first of all, i don't think zippo would agree with that ad... and second,oh wow, another anti-smoking ad that tells us smokers we can die because of smoking. guess what, we know that. you'd have to make these ads more personal, more touching. so far, when looking at this, i'm thinking: oh no, someone else, definetly not me, has died there, that makes me so sad, that i have to lighten another cigarette...
as a smoker, i have to agree with you.
IMO, there could be two ways to approach this:
1. Target family members/friends of the smoker - I mean this same visual on top could have a line like : "Have you picked out your grave yet"?
2. Show the smoker what other damage he's gonna cause - a kid grieving over his father's body, tag line: "It's tough growing up without a father"
Don't know whether the ideas above would hold good for an Oncology Center.
Hope this was useful!
faboulus... both the idea are excellent...
shahid
haha the grave is a lighter.
that's the response you're gonna get from the general public
it aint gna stop me smoking.

Great Ad but would be improved. Instead i would have the zippo's cap open and lighted, showing a small flame (candle), i think this would make it more dramatic. And why is the swiss brand showing? it has nothing to do with the message unless it says don't use swiss lighters because they lit cigarettes which lead to death...nah
also it would help if there was less going on in the background. A lot of nice homes that get my attention before the ad itself. Maybe having just one small old home would work better. That would make me think that the little girl is living there all by herself now...=(
Jorge:
Bad ad. You've made the lighter the culprit. The lighter isn't guilty or responsible for smokers dying.
Pete2, I've been reading your latest comments, and I have a question. Would you consider yourself a grown up? I wouldn't. Please, man, if you're going to critique just for critiquing, at least make a valid point. And please, I beg you, PLEASE learn how to write.
WHAT????? He is one of the only people I trust with crits on this forum ( krautland, clairec, etc... are some more)
It really SUCKS that people can't take REAL critique from their ads... THAT'S REAL LIFE! Get used to it. When we get out of school it all changes my friend. You are now going to cost people money to have you around... you won't have the luxury of having someone to give you this critique/ direction.
I always read comments on here against some people (Mainly Krautland and Pete2) because they're too mean/ they don't leave good feedback... Well, let me say that from my experience on here, they have never said a bad thing about my work or the comments I've posted... I don't know why, but they haven't. At least that's the way I see it... I'm sure they've had some FEEDBACK for me (Be it "This sucks", "Are you joking with this" or something like that...)
But I don't take it to heart as many people. I don't get offended. I have a theory about this. I think it's because of the frame of mind/ attitude one takes when reading feedback...
Again this is just my opinion (and it has worked for me) but if you take anything ANYONE says about your work too seriously/ personal, you can never get better as an artist/ designer/ art director or even a person. I might be oblivious to the fact that people say negative things about my work (AND THEY DO, TRUST ME) but I don't see it as negative... I see it as a fact that they saw something good enough in it to say ANYTHING at all. A lot of people (CD's in particular) just breeze through people's work. They've seen everything before. But when they stop to tell you something (Other than "good job" you egomaniacs...) then it means that they see something in the work... Not perfect, but its SOMETHING. It caught their attention enough to pause and think about it. Even to give you some feedback on it.
So, just take it as what it is man. It's a crit. If this idea doesn't work, well go on to the next one! There's plenty of ideas out there. Trust me, Leonardo da Vinci probably painted a lot of other uglier chicks before he put Mona Lisa on that canvas...
Again, take this for what it is: My opinion. Nothing more or nothing less...
But it looks great as a picture i don't really get it.
